The Will Levis hype train gained an impressive amount of speed during the offseason. Through Kentucky’s first four games, the buzz surrounding his NFL potential continues to grow.

On Tuesday, NFL analyst and commentator Todd McShay sent out a tweet that has the Big Blue Nation smirking ear-to-ear. McShay mentioned three quarterbacks as the “clear-cut” best options ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft: Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, Alabama’s Bryce Young, and Levis. The Kentucky QB is considered to be a future first-round pick and McShay is buying what Levis is selling on the field.

Stroud and Young are also considered to be future first-round picks. Both are currently in the early running for the Heisman Trophy. Levis might still be the better pro prospect of the trio.

Through the first four games of the 2022 season for Kentucky, Levis has thrown for 1,185 yards (4th in the SEC) and 10 touchdowns (3rd in the SEC) while completing 67.52 percent of his passes. His quarterback rating of 173.96 is third-best in the SEC, according to the conference’s website, and slightly better than Alabama’s Bryce Young. That being said, Levis is tied for second in the conference in interceptions (four) and is the overall leader in number of times sacked (16), but his positives have far outweighed any negatives.

McShay tweeted about a couple of fellow SEC quarterbacks in addition to Levis, too. After talking to NFL scouts, he is hearing that Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker is flying up the draft boards after an incredibly hot start to the season. Hooker has thrown for 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns with zero interceptions. McShay also mentioned Florida QB Anthony Richardson as someone “loaded with traits” but who has also disappointed this season. Richardson’s QBR of 111.73 is the worst in the SEC by over nine points.

Levis will have another excellent opportunity to boost his draft status even more this weekend. No. 7 Kentucky heads down to Oxford on Saturday for a showdown against No. 14 Ole Miss and an impressive Rebels defense. Kickoff is set for noon EST on ESPN.
