The Kentucky football program will look to keep its recruiting momentum moving forward on Saturday afternoon.

Four-star class of 2023 wide receiver Anthony Brown will make his college decision tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. EST inside Springfield High School (OH). KSR’s Freddie Maggard will make the trip up north to provide coverage for what could be a massive get for the Wildcats’ coaching staff. Brown is down to a top five consisting of Kentucky, Penn State, Cincinnati, Michigan, and Oklahoma, which he unveiled in late June.

However, it is believed that the multi-sport athlete is down to just two potential options: Kentucky or Cincinnati. Brown took an official visit to Lexington in early July and then traveled to Cincinnati the following weekend for an OV.

With that in mind, he’s also been to UK before this year, taking an unofficial visit in late March. Kentucky was also his very first Divison I offer, which he earned two years ago in June 2020. Brown received a Crystal Ball projection to land at Kentucky back in June from 247Sports’ Josh EdwardsKSR’s Nick Roush and Adam Luckett along with Rivals’ Justin Rowland also have picks in favor of Brown choosing the ‘Cats.

Oklahoma is the most recent school to express serious interest in Brown, extending him an offer in late May. Michigan was able to get him on campus for an unofficial visit in March while Penn State offered him all the way back in June 2021, around the same time the Wolverines did the same. Brown was formerly committed to Minnesota before backing off that decision and re-opening his recruitment in February.

Here’s a unique side note about Brown, too. His uncle is John Legend. Yes, that John Legend.

Brown’s mother, Phyllis, is a sister to Mr. Legend, a talented jack-of-all-trades who has won 14 Grammy Awards throughout his illustrious career. Even though Legend spends most of his time far from Ohio, their families typically connect each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Recruiting has made life a little too busy for the wide receiver lately, but Anthony Brown tells Rivals he’s made some memories over the years while traveling with his famous uncle.

“I’ve been on tour with him,” Brown said. “We went to the Yankees game to meet Derek Jeter and went backstage. We went to the NBA All-Star Game and sat courtside, just stuff like that.”

Kentucky currently has 11 commitments in place for the ’23 class, led by a pair of four-stars in WR Shamar Porter and S Avery Stuart, along with five in-state prospects. UK has the 35th ranked overall class in the nation as of Friday, but adding a four-star in Brown could bump the ‘Cats up several spots in the standings.

Landing Brown would be a big get for Mark Stoops, Vince Marrow, and company. Maybe the Big Blue Nation can get a John Legend concert at Kroger Field in the coming years, too?
