Reed and Jeff Sheppard mic'd up for Blue-White Game in Pikeville

Kentucky basketball’s annual Blue-White Game was nothing short of a success in Pikeville last weekend. Big Blue Nation filled Appalachian Wireless Arena from top to bottom, raising $162,450 for flood relief in Eastern Kentucky.

And then the basketball was good, too, a competitive back-and-forth matchup with a shorthanded roster. It was a scrimmage that came down to the final shot, with the Blue squad given a chance to tie the game and send it to overtime in the final seconds. That came after a go-ahead make from Jacob Toppin on the other end to take a three-point lead.

Antonio Reeves and Adou Thiero combined for 48 points on the losing team, while the winning team saw all five starters finish in double figures, led by CJ Fredrick with 18 points.

Future Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard was in attendance with his dad and two-time champion Wildcat Jeff Sheppard taking it all in together. That came after the London native hosted his own youth basketball camp in Pikeville earlier in the afternoon where he presented a $10,000 check to go toward flood relief, as well.

What did the future and past Wildcats think of the performance? KSR mic’d the duo up in the stands during the game to get their thoughts in real time.
