Vince Marrow has created a couple of different recruiting pipelines across the state of Ohio. Now he’s established one in the living room of one family. Tucker Kattus announced on Kentucky Sports Radio he will be a Kentucky Wildcat, joining his two brothers in Lexington.

Tucker Kattus is a 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive lineman from Cincinnati St. X. He played tackle for the Bombers, but most recruiting sites project him to play offensive guard at the next level. A three-star prospect, he’s ranked as the No. 74 interior offensive lineman in the On3 Industry Rankings.

Kattus chose Kentucky over offers from Michigan, Missouri, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Louisville, and Cincinnati, among others.

The talented offensive lineman was on Kentucky’s campus over the weekend. A frequent flyer to Lexington, after visiting earlier this spring he told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ that he was a big fan of new offensive line coach Eric Wolford.

“I think it’s a great hire. [Wolford] is a great coach. He’s one of the best O-Line coaches,” said Kattus.

Kattus is the fifth addition to Kentucky’s Top 25 20225 recruiting class. He joins wide receiver Quintin Simmons, running back Isaiah West, and two quarterbacks, Stone Saunders and Brennen Ward. West is back in Lexington today for an unofficial visit.

Kattus Comes from a Football Family

Football runs deep for the Kattuses. The patriarch, Eric, was a team captain at Michigan in the 1985 season where the tight end caught eight touchdown passes from Jim Harbaugh to earn All-Big Ten honors. His oldest son, Josh, turned down an offer from Michigan to play for Kentucky. An immediate contributor for the Cats, the talented tight end wowed the Big Blue Nation as a freshman with a stifling stiff arm in the win over Louisville. Entering his third season at Kentucky, he has 15 career receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns.

Josh will not be the only family member suiting up for the Wildcats this fall. Justin Kattus, who also starred on the rugby field, is a preferred walk-on who played linebacker and tight end in high school.

11 Personnel bestowed the nickname “Asskicker” to Josh early in his career because of his desire to physically smash opponents. Turn on Tucker Kattus’ tape and right away you’ll see that runs in the family. On the first play of his highlight reel from his junior season at St. X, he provides pass protection on a screen and drives his opponent 20 yards down the field, then buries him into the turf. The recruiting rankings disagree, but the Cats got a good one with Tucker Kattus.
