John Calipari On Zvonimir Ivisic

New Kentucky head coach Mark Pope will be introduced to the Big Blue Nation on Sunday afternoon. Before that happened, a fourth Kentucky players entered the transfer portal. That means we have now seen six underclassmen departures since Rob Dillingham and Justin Edwards each turned pro.

Zvonimir Ivisic was a one-and-done at Kentucky, but his time in college basketball appears to be continuing. The Croatia native who had a billboard built in Indianapolis entered the transfer portal on Saturday.

The 7-foot-2 center will have three years of eligibility remaining as he is now an unrestricted free agent in college basketball joining former teammates Aaron Bradshaw, Joey Hart, and Adou Thiero in the portal. Ivisic played in 15 games for Kentucky this season after finally being cleared by the NCAA in January. The freshman averaged 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 11.7 minutes per game. Ivisic shot 66.7 percent from two and 37.5 percent from three. The freshman scored a career-high 18 points in Kentucky’s 117-95 home win over Alabama on Feb. 25. Ivisic played a key role for Kentucky off the bench down the stretch.

Expect Arkansas to become a contender for what will be one of the top-ranked bigs in the transfer portal. A reunion with John Calipari in Fayetteville appears to be very possible.
