2023 Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll EDGE Nyckoles Harbor is one of the nation’s best prospects and is now down to seven schools. LSU is among the schools pushing for him and he’s now set an official visit to check out Baton Rouge.

GeorgiaLSUMarylandMiamiMichiganSouth Carolina, and USC are the finalists for the five-star prospect for the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“The relationship I have with Coach Cain and the LSU track and field staff is, I’ll say, the best relationship I have with a school overall,” Harbor told On3. “I just love track and football there, and what they are doing on both sides and they’re always in the running for everything. It makes me feel like I can come in and make an instant impact anywhere I go.”

The first visit Nyckoles Harbor has set is with LSU for Oct. 8, the weekend the Tigers play host to Tennessee. Harbor is not ruling out an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge between now and early October. Track will play into the decision, of course, and Harbor is very familiar with LSU’s assistant track coach, Tamara Ards. He referred to her as an “auntie figure” and said they have a very good relationship as well.

“Coach Cain and I hit it off right away when he was at Oklahoma. I visited there last year, I spent time with him, and he is the coach I have the best relationship with right now,” he said. “That connection is strong and now I just want to visit LSU to see what it is like. I know it is a top program, so getting down there is important.”

For his Top 7, Harbor said it’s a combination of track and football that stand out to him. He’s an elite sprinter as well as football player.

“I really like the combination of football, track, and education these seven schools offer,” Harbor told On3’s Chad Simmons. “It is not only about that though. Each of these schools has not only done a good job recruiting me, but they have gotten to know my family and my coaches too. Coaches from these schools have really made a strong impression on my parents.

Nyckoles Harbor Scouting Summary

“Has the best combination of size and speed we’ve seen from a young prospect as a national-level sprinter at 6-foot-5 and over 230 pounds,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Powers wrote. “Runs under 10.2 seconds in the 100 meters with the size and length of a premier pass rushing prospect. Plays both tight end and defensive end for his high school, but has developed into more of an EDGE prospect as a junior.”

“Shows his considerable athleticism as a pass rusher with high end closing speed. Is also able to locate and track the ball as a tight end. Still unrefined technically as a pass rusher. Productive against sub-par competition.”

Harbor ranks as the No. 6 player in the On300. He also tabs in as the No. 2 Edge and the top player in D.C. Maryland leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over Michigan, Penn State and Alabama.
