Many (La.) linebacker Tylen Singleton has signed with LSU, giving the Tigers defense another new playmaker heading into the 2024 season.

Singleton is ranked as the No. 136 overall prospect, the No. 10 linebacker, and the No. 5 player in Louisiana by the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Matt house has been his primary recruiter since arriving at LSU and now House and Kelly have Singleton’s signature.

“I love it. Still 100 percent locked down to LSU,” Singleton said after committing. “You know how you go somewhere and you’ve got to be a little quiet because you don’t know how people are. There, I can be myself, make jokes and be how I always be. Don’t have to be quiet. They make me feel like I belong there, like I have a voice there.

“I love coach BK. He’s a genuine guy and easy to talk to. There are some people you talk to, they’re so high up you don’t know what to say. With him, I can drop my shoulders and relax with him.”

Ready to shine at LSU

Singleton’s high school career has been one of the more notable for any player in the 2024 class in Louisiana as he’s been a force on the varsity level since his freshman year.

Singleton helped Many to a 12-0 record and the 2A state championship in 2020. Then in 2021, he tallied 75 tackles, four tackles for a loss and a sack, helping Many to another return to the state title game. And then as a junior, Singleton earned about every honor possible in Louisiana and guided Many to another state championship. Here’s what his head coach Dillon Barrett told On3 in November.

“The kid’s unbelievably talented defensively,” Barrett said. “I think everybody knows that and I think everybody’s starting to see how talented he is offensively as well, just a pure athlete. You know he can do everything. It’s about when to use him, where to use him and how to use him.”

Singleton also excels in track with a 22.63-second time in the 200-meter dash as a sophomore. He’s also high-jumped 6 feet, 2 inches.

The versatility was essential for Singleton, but at the next level he can focus his skills on the linebacker position to further grow into his impressive frame. Plenty of SEC schools continued to push, but Singleton stayed solid to LSU while posting another strong season on the field.

“There are schools hitting me up, but I don’t text them,” Singleton said after committing. “I’m 100 percent locked down right now. Early enrollee and play in the spring game. Let the coaches know I’m the one they can trust when they put me in the game and start as a true freshman.”
