LSU appears poised to kick off its 2025 season on a Saturday night in a different Death Valley.



The Tigers’ high-profile road opener at Clemson will reportedly earn the primetime 7:30 p.m. nod on ABC in Week 1 this fall on an ESPN broadcast schedule loaded with ACC-SEC titles.



LSU’s trip to Clemson is anticipated to be a battle between preseason top-10 teams — if not potentially even top-5 as <a href="https://www.on3.com/teams/lsu-tigers/news/lsu-cracks-top-5-in-on3s-post-spring-rankings-set-for-massive-week-1-showdown/">On3’s Ari Wasserman forecast Monday in his post-spring rankings</a>.



The all-Tigers tilt ranked <a href="https://www.on3.com/teams/lsu-tigers/news/lsu-clemson-matchup-highlights-best-nonconference-games/">No. 1 on a list of the top non-conference games</a> On3 released last month highlighting the most intriguing matchups off the season.



“Want to hear a weird stat? LSU has lost its last five season-openers,” Wasserman wrote in the April article. “Granted, they were all big-time non-conference matchups against good opponents, but you’d never think a program as consistently good as LSU could lose five of those in a row. Will it be six?



“Clemson is going to be really, really good this year. LSU coach Brian Kelly is coming into the season in a critical position. It feels like the LSU Tigers, who invested quite a bit in the portal this offseason, have to make the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile, Clemson is the consensus favorite to win the ACC this year, but Dabo Swinney is dying to get back to relevancy on the national stage. In terms of pure entertainment factor and storylines, this is the best nonconference game of the season and we get it right away.”
