LSU ranked No. 3 in AP Top 25
The LSU Women’s Basketball moved up to No. 3 in Monday’s Associated Press Top 25.
The Tigers moved up from the No. 5 spot after wins over Missouri and Auburn over the past week.
LSU head coach Kim Mulkey has the Tigers on a historic start to the 2022-23 season. LSU is 18-0 overall and 6-0 in Southeastern Conference play. It’s the best start to a season in program history, and 18 wins marks the longest win streak in program history.
LSU has not been ranked as high as No. 3 since the 2005-06 season. The Tigers are one of three teams still undefeated, joining No. 1 South Carolina and No. 2 Ohio State.
LSU will host Arkansas on Thursday before traveling to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama on Monday, January 23.
The Tigers are six games away from a matchup with No. 1 South Carolina on February 12 in Columbia, S.C.
On Sunday, LSU unveiled a statue of program legend Seimone Augustus, and fans packed the PMAC to celebrate both Augustus and the record-setting start for the Tigers. LSU had 11,475 fans in attendance for Sunday’s win over Auburn, which was the fifth-largest home crowd in program history.

“What do you write first, because they are all incredible,” Mulkey said after the win. “Starting with Seimone’s statue unveiling, the first female ever in the history of LSU sports to do it. I’d start there. A team that’s 18-0, there’s just so many things you can write, and they were all wonderful and meaningful.”
Angel Reese continued her dominance with another double-double. With 18 consecutive double-doubles, she is one shy of tying Sylvia Fowles’ record for most consecutive double-doubles in LSU history.
“It has meant a lot to me,” Reese explained. “I am just playing the game. I didn’t know I was breaking these records until you guys have mentioned it. But I am just doing whatever it takes to win and I am happy to just be mentioned with Sylvia Fowles and Simone Augustus. It’s really a blessing and I am happy.”
