BREAKING: Miami flips top-100 WR Vance Spafford from Georgia

Miami has flipped its second four-star recruit from Georgia in the 2026 cycle.
The Hurricanes completed their flip of Tustin (Calif.) Mission Viejo top-100 receiver Vance Spafford Monday afternoon when the No. 85 overall prospect and No. 11 receiver in the On3 Industry Ranking announced his decision to move off Georgia in favor of Miami. His flip gives the Canes their first receiver commit in the cycle, 16th total commit, 10th four-star commit and second direct recruiting win over Georgia after the Hurricanes flipped four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman in April. Spafford is also the sixth four-star wideout and fourth top-200 recruit receivers coach Kevin Beard has landed in his three recruiting cycles at Miami.
Spafford was initially scheduled to take an official visit to Miami this past weekend but was unable to make the trip due to an illness. However, the Hurricanes’ staff kept its foot on the gas with the consensus four-star recruit and maintained confidence with Spafford through the weekend before landing his commitment Sunday afternoon.

Miami would like to add potentially three or four receivers in the cycle and hopes Spafford is the first commit in what the Hurricanes hope will be one of the country’s top receiver classes. Five-star Tristen Keys sits at the top of Miami’s wishlist along with local four-star top-50 prospect Calvin Russell. Four-star outside receivers Somourian Wingo and Tyran Evans and slot receivers Jasen Lopez and Brayden Robinson are also targets the Hurricanes are hoping to land.
CaneSport’s Take
Spafford’s commitment is the second pledge in what could be a massive two-week stretch for the Hurricanes. Miami is in a tremendous position to land four-star tight end Israel Briggs Tuesday, looks to be closing in on Evans and has continued to gain ground for four-star top-150 running back Jae Lamar. The Hurricanes are also in good shape with four-star defensive lineman Nolan Wilson, four-star guard Breck Kolojay, three-star defensive lineman Freddie Wilson and three-star tight end/ATH Zach Turner. We went into more detail here on the message board.
