Michigan football alum and NFL legend Tom Brady is stepping into one of his next ventures after retiring from the league. It was announced on March 25 that Brady has acquired an ownership interest in the Las Vegas of the WNBA.

Associated with Brady in the deal is owner Mark Davis, who is the owner of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders.

“Since I purchased the Aces, our goal has been to win on and off the court,” explained Davis. “Tom Brady is a win not only for the Aces, and the WNBA, but for women’s professional sports as a whole.”

“I have always been a huge fan of women’s sports, and I admire the work that the Aces’ players, staff, and the WNBA continue to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes,” Brady said in a statement from the team. “To be able to contribute in any way to that mission as a member of the Aces organization is an incredible honor.”

Brady says that his sisters were an inspiration for him in deciding to purchase a stake in the WNBA squad.

“My love for women’s sports began at a young age when I would tag along to all my older sisters’ games,” Brady said. “They were by far the best athletes in our house! We celebrated their accomplishments together as a family, and they remain a great inspiration to me.”

Brady officially retired this year after 23 seasons in the NFL and seven Super Bowl titles and five Super Bowl MVPs. He spent the first 20 years of his career with the New England Patriots after being selected in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Michigan. He spent three years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring.
