Here’s a recap and box score from the first two quarters of play.

First quarter

Ohio State won the coin toss and elected to defer, giving Michigan’s offense the ball to start the game. The Wolverines took the ball right down the field with a 10-play, 75-yard drive capped off by a 14-yard reverse to freshman wide receiver A.J. Henning. Senior kicker Jake Moody’s extra point was good as Michigan took a 7-0 lead over the Buckeyes with 10:12 left in the first quarter.

The Michigan defense forced an Ohio State three-and-out on the next drive and took over on the OSU 39 after a return from Henning. Third-year freshman Cade McNamara gave the ball right back to the Buckeyes with an interception return to the OSU 22 yard-line.

The Buckeyes went 64 yards in 12 plays, but a sack from senior pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson forced an OSU field goal. A 31-yard kick from Noah Ruggles narrowed the deficit to 7-3 Michigan with 3:36 left in the quarter.

Second quarter

The Buckeyes took a 10-7 lead at 9:12 of the second quarter on a 25-yard touchdown pass from CJ Stroud to wideout Garrett Wilson. Michigan struck back on a 13-play, 82-yard drive set up by a McNamara 37-yard strike to redshirt freshman wide receiver Cornelius Johnson.

Redshirt sophomore running back Hassan Haskins closed out the drive with a one-yard score, resulting in Michigan re-taking the lead at 14-10 with 3:51 to go in the first half. OSU tacked on a field goal by Ruggles after a big Michigan stop to narrow things at 14-13 with nine seconds left in the half.
