We begin with Michigan basketball guard Caleb Houstan and his situation. He declared for the 2022 NBA Draft after just one season, received a combine invite but surprisingly turned it down. That has led many to speculate that he may have received a guarantee from a team that doesn’t want him to boost his stock at the event. Others, though, think Houstan doesn’t feel he’s ready to test in front of NBA teams and may be leaning towards a return to Michigan. Since Houstan has been silent on the matter — he didn’t even publicly announce his decision to test the draft waters — it’s all speculation at this point. We discuss what him declining the combine invite may mean for him and Michigan.
Specifically on Michigan’s side of things, Houstan departing would impact expectations for next season. The hosts disagree on just how much, though, with one believing the outlook is much better than the other if Houstan were to leave.
We then weigh in on some Michigan football hot topics, starting with the defensive ends. Freshman Derrick Moore may be getting a bit overlooked when it comes to the Wolverines’ stellar incoming recruiting class. He had a nice spring as an early enrollee and flashed in the Maize vs. Blue Spring Game. He’ll factor into a defensive end group that has a lot to prove.
It’s NFL Draft season — surprise, it’s a 365-day venture at this point — and we comment on where Michigan players are being projected in early 2023 forecasts.
