2025 Mississippi State commitment Kamario Taylor isn’t a football-only guy and that is evident by his year-long participation in other sports at Noxubee County High School. The On3 four-star quarterback recently finished off his junior season on the basketball court and there was no off time for Taylor between football and basketball.

Taylor is now gearing up for his participation in spring sports and that requires more responsibilities for Taylor at Noxubee County.

“We just finished up basketball,” Taylor said. “So now I am doing tennis and track. I’ve been playing tennis for a year now and it is going pretty good. It is something to keep me in shape.”

As a junior on the gridiron, Taylor passed for 3,594 yards with 43 touchdowns and he also rushed for 794 yards and 15 touchdowns. This offseason he has one particular aspect of his game he is working to improve.

“With football I am just training right now,” added the 6-foot-5 and 205-pound Taylor. “I work out every day in football and I want to get better with my reads. I want to pick up the read on defense quicker.”

Taylor committed to Mississippi State last fall and in the latest On3 rankings, he is now rated as the nation’s No. 9 quarterback and the state’s No. 5 prospect. He recently added an offer from Texas A&M but noted he hasn’t received any other new interest, of late.

With the Bulldogs, Taylor is ready to get back to Starkville to observe head coach Jeff Lebby’s spring practice sessions.

“No new offers lately and not really any new interest,” Taylor explained. “I am not sure about any visits because the dead period is just ending. But I expect to be at Mississippi State for their spring practices. I want to see how their coaches coach and how they operate.

“I have already watched some film on Coach Lebby’s offense. But I want to see how they are going to execute. But on my last visit they showed me a lot about how the offense operates.”

Taylor initially committed to State’s previous coaching staff but it hasn’t taken him long to build a bond with Lebby and State quarterbacks coach Matt Holecek.

“Coach Lebby has just been telling me that I am the person he wants,” noted Taylor. “I’ve been talking to Coach Holecek, too, and that’s been going well. He tells me a lot of the same things that Coach Lebby tells me.”

Along with his work ethic in athletics, Taylor is also putting in the time and effort inside the class room. He noted that graduating early from high school is on his to-do list so he can get an early start on his college career.

“I am working on graduating early and I am supposed to be doing that,” Taylor mentioned. “That will be big to get there and helped me to get a jump on the other recruits. It will help to train my mind and get ready for it and get ready for the fall.”
