NC State basketball scored the first seven points of the game and led by as much as nine midway through the first half. However, Oklahoma State went into the locker room at halftime on a 13-2 run to take a 31-25 lead.

The Cowboys carried that momentum into the second half and with 10:11 left led 50-36 before the Wolfpack began to battle back.

NC State cut the lead down to two at 68-66 with 33.6 seconds remaining, but Oklahoma State was clutch at the line, going 6 for 6 to secure a 74-68 victory at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., in the second game of the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase.

The defeat is the first of the year for NC State basketball, who falls to 3-1 overall. The Wolfpack will host Texas Southern Sunday evening at PNC Arena.

Oklahoma State improved to 4-1.

The duo of Hellems and Hayes combined to go 16 for 16 at the free throw line.

However, Oklahoma State’s deep bench and strength in transition and on the glass damaged NC State. The Cowboys had a staggering 56-5 advantage in bench points and 32-15 edge in fast break points. It also out-rebounded NC State 44-39.
