McNeese transfer Alyn Breed commits to NC State

The Will Wade era has officially arrived. McNeese transfer guard Alyn Breed pledged his transfer commitment to NC State on Wednesday afternoon, just hours after entering the NCAA’s transfer portal, marking Wade’s first transfer portal acquisition of the offseason.
Breed has one year of eligibility remaining.
One of Wade’s top transfer portal additions at McNeese last season, Breed entered the portal Wednesday afternoon with a “do not contact” tag before he picked the Wolfpack. NC State currently has eight scholarships available for the 2025-26 season.
Breed, a former Providence transfer, was a promising addition to the Cowboys’ roster last offseason. He averaged 4.8 points on 39.8 percent shooting in just 18.5 minutes a game during his junior season with the Friars. He then missed the 2023-24 campaign due to the NCAA’s transfer rules.
A 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard, Breed was in line for a major role at McNeese this past year, but a season-ending injury shut him down after just two games.

The Powder Springs, Ga., native will need a medical waiver to play this coming season, but should be able to get one rather easily. He impressed in his McNeese debut with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting with five rebounds and two assists in a 72-64 loss to Alabama on Nov. 11. Breed also added an 18-point, three-steal performance in an 80-73 loss to South Dakota State on Nov. 4.
Before his collegiate career, Breed spent a post-graduate season at IMG Academy. He posted 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals during that campaign, including an 82 percent mark from the free throw line.
Breed was a four-year standout at Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern from 2016-2019, where he averaged 14.0 points with 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists as a senior. He helped lead the Indians to a 32-0 mark with eight nationally-ranked wins to claim the 2019 Georgia Class 7A Sate title.
