NC State baseball weekend recap: Pack misses opportunity

MattCarterby: Matt Carter03/27/23TheWolfpacker

Almost two-thirds through the second game of a Sunday doubleheader at ranked Boston College, NC State baseball looked poised for a sweep and clinching its first ACC series of the year. The bullpen however was unable to hold a 5-run lead, and BC walked off with an extra-inning victory in the finale to steal the series.

NC State fell 4-1 on Friday in the series opener. The Pack had the tying run at the plate in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, and loaded the bases in the ninth, but failed to score in any of those frames.

After trouncing the Eagles by run-rule, 12-2 in 8 innings, in game one of the double header Sunday, NC State was up 7-2 going into the bottom of the sixth. The Eagles responded with four runs in that frame and then hit a game-tying homer in the eight before prevailing in extra innings.
