There are less than seven months until NC State football kicks off the 2024 season, and the Wolfpack are bound to enter the campaign with high expectations.

NC State, which boasts the No. 7 transfer portal class according to the On3 Team Rankings, checked in at No. 22 in On3’s way-too-early Top 25 pre-spring rankings on Monday.

The Wolfpack, which finished the 2023 season No. 18 in the College Football Playoff rankings, is one of six ACC teams to be featured in On3’s pre-spring list.

Florida State slotted in at No. 16, while Clemson was at No. 17 and Miami trailed them at No. 18. After that trio, Louisville came in at No. 21 with the Pack right behind it and ACC newcomer SMU rounded out the league at No. 25.

NC State will open the regular season against Western Carolina on Aug. 29 before the Wolfpack faces its first stiff test of the season: Tennessee in the Duke’s Mayo Classic on Sept. 7 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Quote of the day

NC State men’s basketball does not play again until Saturday at Clemson, and coach Kevin Keatts is focused on helping his team improve in the meantime.

“I think the biggest thing is to try to work on ourselves,” Keatts said. “We’ve had two really good games that we came up a little bit short, but we gotta get some guys making some shots. … Probably for us, it was a good time for us to have a break. You don’t like taking off, you’d like to keep your team sharp a little bit. Even though we lost, we still did some good things, but it’s probably a good time for us to step back.”
