NC State is back in action to ring in the New Year with an ACC road contest at Notre Dame on Wednesday night. 

The Wolfpack enters the game with a 9-3 mark after it beat a winless Detroit Mercy 83-66 on Dec. 22 at the PNC Arena to wrap up its non-conference slate. The Irish, meanwhile, are 6-7 coming off a 76-54 win over Virginia on Dec. 30.

*** This will be the 20th all-time meeting between the Irish and the Wolfpack. Notre Dame leads the series 10-9, but NC State beat the Irish 85-82 in the previous contest between the two squads last January.

*** NC State graduate guard DJ Horne has scored 20 or more points in four of the last six games. He is averaging 18.8 points over that stretch and is shooting 53.3% from the field in that period. Horne ranks seventh in the ACC in 3-point percentage (44.3%) and third in triples made per game (2.92). 

*** Freshman guard Dennis Parker Jr. is averaging 9.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in the last four games on the court as he finds a rhythm in his first collegiate season. Graduate guard Michael O’Connell has also found a groove with 11 assists and zero turnovers over the past two games. He’s third in the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.27.
