The Wolfpacker Show: NC State Basketball Sweet 16 Preview

NC State men’s and women’s basketball are still dancing. The Wolfpack advanced to the Sweet 16 with both of its programs after a successful opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

The men knocked off 6-seed Texas Tech and 14-seed Oakland in Pittsburgh, while the women took care of business against 14-seed UT-Chattanooga and 6-seed Tennessee.

Now, the men will play 2-seed Marquette on Friday in Dallas, while the women will play 2-seed Stanford on Friday in Portland, Ore.

The Wolfpacker Show, hosted by Ethan McDowell and Noah Fleischman, taped another episode to recap the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament first- and second-round wins over the weekend.

In this episode, the hosts discussed:

– The coaching job that Kevin Keatts has done over the last two weeks has the Wolfpack in the mix for a deeper run into the NCAA Tournament.

–  How NC State men’s basketball beat Texas Tech and Oakland in Pittsburgh.

– Who has been the X-factor in NC State’s NCAA Tournament run and how they have been able to propel the Pack through the postseason to this point.

– Noah also previewed NC State’s next opponent: Marquette. It will be a rematch of the 1974 National Championship game and the Golden Eagles present a tough challenge for the Wolfpack this Friday.

– After the hosts looked at the men’s tournament success to this point, they turned the page to the women’s side of things. The Wolfpack also went 2-0 over the weekend, and it defended home court at Reynolds Coliseum to advance to the Sweet 16.

– Ethan broke down how NC State was able to handle Tennessee and its star player, Rickea Jackson, in the win. Noah picked out a young Wolfpack player who impressed him in the team’s win over the Lady Vols as well.

– Now, the Wolfpack will play Stanford, a future ACC opponent next season, which boasts an elite scoring duo in the front court. Ethan discussed that matchup in depth before the Wolfpack heads west to continue its NCAA Tournament run.
