Game day for the first time at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh this season is almost here for NC State football. The Wolfpack will kick off Saturday afternoon in a marquee showdown against No. 10/11 Notre Dame. The start is scheduled for noon, and the game will be televised nationally by ABC.

This is the first time the Pack has hosted the Irish since 2016, in a game that was marred by the weather conditions. The peak effects of Hurricane Matthew, which made landfall during the overnight hours prior to the game, were felt throughout the contest. The result were comical, slip-and-slide conditions with the outcome decided by a blocked punt returned for a score by NC State, giving the Pack a 10-3 win.

A year later, the surging Wolfpack had won six in a row when traveling to South Bend for the first time in NC State football history. A 14-14 tie in the second quarter was broken open by Notre Dame with a pair of third quarter touchdowns in a 35-14 Irish victory.

What will this year have in store for NC State against Notre Dame?

TheWolfpacker.com duo of Matt Carter and Ethan McDowell discussed many topics related to that exact question.

Among the subject matters in the latest edition of TheWolfpacker Show:

• How should NC State counter Notre Dame’s aggressiveness on defense? Is super senior Pack quarterback Brennan Armstrong the ideal signal-caller against the Irish’s tendencies?
• What about when Notre Dame has the football? How much does former Wake Forest record-setting quarterback Sam Hartman change the dynamic for the Irish, who a year ago was a run-dominant offensive attack?
• What is there to make of Notre Dame after collectively dominating both Navy (in Dublin, Ireland) and Tennessee State (at home) in the first two weeks of the season?
• What are some of the bold predictions and random over/under bets to make in this game?
• Plus a look into the verbal commitment of Anderson (S.C.) Westside On3 Industry three-star receiver Jimmar Boston, who announced his pledge to join the NC State football recruiting class on Tuesday evening after also considering an offer from Virginia Tech.
