Nebraska added a critical piece to its 2024 recruiting class with OL Grant Brix from Logan (Iowa) Logan-Magnolia. Brix is the No. 2 IOL, according to On3, the No. 56 player in the nation overall, and the No. 1 player in Iowa in the 2024 class.

The Huskers have landed a significant cornerstone for their 2024 class. Brix announced via social media that he has committed to Nebraska. The four-star OL has previously announced a top list of Oklahoma, Kansas State, Alabama, and Nebraska.

Brix took four official visits in June, visiting each of his top four schools. He also took recent unofficial visits to Nebraska and Oklahoma. Since this summer, the Huskers and the Sooners were perceived to be leading for Brix.

Brix believes that Matt Rhule will lead Nebraska back

“The biggest thing was the belief in Coach Rhule and the program and that it’s going to get back to where everyone in Nebraska wants it to be,” Brix said. “On top of the belief in the program, I have a belief in Coach Campbell and Coach Raiola to develop me.”

Besides the belief in the coaching staff, Brix has a connection to the commitments in Nebraska’s 2024 class. He feels close to them as a group, and when he visited at the end of July, one of the biggest reasons why was to meet some of the 2025 commitments.

“That was another big point and reason why (I committed to Nebraska),” he said. “I felt like I have a good connection to that class from a few visits earlier in the year to the official visit to the last gameday visit that I took.”

Nebraska staff can see Brix playing inside or outside and consider him an offensive lineman, and the reason why would be to get him on the field as quickly as possible.

“They can see me playing inside or outside,” Brix said. “I think that it’s just offensive line. I think they just want me to get on the field.”

There is one crucial decision down for Brix and one to go. Now, he must decide whether to enroll early at Nebraska or join the team in June.

“I am still on the fence,” he said. “There is a process to it, but I do have the credits. I planned it out last spring. If I wanted to, then I could.

“It’s just weighing what is important. I value being able to finish my senior year, playing other sports with the people that I grew up with. I value that very highly. But it’s also valuable to get there early.”

Grant Brix visited Nebraska over half of a dozen times

Brix visited Nebraska six times during his recruiting process, including an official visit on June 23 and an unofficial visit on July 30 before the dead period began. The official visit date was Nebraska’s biggest official visitor weekend in June, and the July visit was the end of the summer barbecue in Lincoln.

In December, Kansas State was the trending team for Brix. Since then, it’s been a battle between Nebraska and Kansas State, with the two schools flopping positions as leader once in February and again in March. Following Brix’s official visit to Nebraska in June, the Huskers vaulted to a 72.6% favorite to land Brix.

“I would say that the best part was interacting with all of the committed or not committed recruits,” Brix said about his official visit to Nebraska. “There were a lot of commitments there, so it was good to connect with them. The one-on-one with coach (Corey) Campbell and the time with the rest of the strength staff was great.”

Grant Brix is a huge cherry on top of the OL group in the 2024 class for Nebraska

Brix is the fifth offensive lineman in the class for Nebraska, joining Preston Taumua, Gibson Pyle, Davidson, and Peters. Grant Brix becomes the 27th known commitment in the 2024 class for Nebraska. Prior to Brix’s commitment, the Huskers had the No. 26 class in the nation and No. 7 in the conference.
