Matt Rhule And Nebraska Cornhuskers Land Amare Sanders! Nebraska Football Dominating Miami Area

Amare Sanders took an official visit to Nebraska the first weekend in June. The long cornerback from Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep saw a picture of how Nebraska planned to use him in their secondary. Nebraska sees a role for Sanders that would move him from free safety to cornerback. Sanders becomes the 25th commitment in the 2024 class and the eighth projected defensive back in the class.

“I visited over the summer and it just felt like a family,” Sanders said. “I feel like I fit in their scheme and I believe in coach Cooper and Matt Rhule at Nebraska. I feel like they are building up the program where it needs to be at.”

Nebraska told Sanders the first time he communicated with the Huskers that he was a priority for their 2024 class.

“Coach Coop came to my school and told me that he was going to make me a priority. He has a great relationship with my high school coach. He has shown me love since day one and has seen the fit for me at Nebraska from the beginning.”

Sanders had an outstanding official visit to Nebraska in June

Sanders rated the official visit to Nebraska a 9.5 or 10 when he visited back at the beginning of June. The 6-foot-2 and 170-pound Sanders loved the people in Nebraska from the team to the town.

There was also a good chance for Sanders to understand what head coach Matt Rhule is really like. It was one of the big questions to get answered during his official visit weekend in June.

“I feel like everyone had the same response to that question,” Sanders said. “Everyone knows how genuine and true Matt Rhule is. He knows his stuff and cares for his players on and off the field.”

The three-star cornerback planned to take other visits during the month of June. He wanted to go to Florida, Florida State, Illinois, West Virginia, and Duke. In the end, he only took an unofficial visit to Florida in June.

Amare Sanders only took one official visit in June

One of the main reasons Sanders shut things down in June was so that he could get back to his training and get ready for his senior season. Additionally, Nebraska let Sanders know from the beginning what they thought about him and what he could do for them in Lincoln.

“I talked to coach Cooper and coach Rhule,” Sanders said. “Coach Coop has believed in me since the day he walked into my school. He knows that I fit the defense and that I can play free safety and corner as well.”

Sanders is the 25th member of the 2024 recruiting class for Nebraska. He becomes the eighth member of the class that is projected to play in the secondary joining Roger Gradney, Mario Buford, Evan Taylor, Braylen Prude, Donovan Jones, Rex Guthrie, and Callen Barta.

There are three members in the 2024 class from the Miami area. Sanders joins linebacker Willis McGahee IV and wide receiver Jacory Barney. Barney and Sanders are friends and took official visits to Nebraska on the same weekend.
