Huskers Add Arizona OL Rex Waterman to 2026 Class After Official Visit

The big recruiting weekend for Nebraska is already yielding results. The Huskers have added talented offensive lineman Rex Waterman from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton to their 2026 commitment list. The three-star lineman chose Nebraska over UCLA, Boise State, Duke, and others. He is regarded as the No. 103 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 21 player in Arizona, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
“I’ve been praying a lot,” Rex Waterman said. “I’m a man of faith, and the OV to Nebraska was a sign. Everything was right, and it was such a great experience.
“I had been talking to my parents about committing. The coaching staff has a ton of experience and wisdom. I really liked the city of Lincoln too.”
One of the main reasons Waterman chose Nebraska was his connection to his position coach. He also recognizes similarities between his approach to the game and that of the Huskers.
“I am very close with Coach Raiola,” Waterman said. “We are cool and we have been talking a lot prior to my visit. He told me how excited they were to have me up there again. The last time I was up there was for a spring practice and this time it was for summer workouts. I feel like I am like them and share the same hard work mentality and how they get after it.”

Rex Waterman plans to put extra time to good use this summer, will join Huskers in spring
Waterman will be reclaiming some time he would have spent on recruiting, and he intends to put it to good use in the weight room. He plans to graduate early and arrive in Lincoln in January.
“When I start back at the school I will be lifting really hard getting ready for this fall,” Waterman said. “I will have some extra time with my recruitment being shut down now too. There won’t be any distractions.
“After my senior season, I plan to graduate in December so I can get to Nebraska in January. I will be getting on campus early which will get me some advantages being able to workout with the team in the spring and do spring ball.”
