Game 2: Brockett, Broderick deliver in 5-2 win
In the nightcap, Nebraska controlled most of the way, earning a 5-2 victory behind a dominant start from lefty Jackson Brockett. Brockett went five innings, giving up just two hits and no runs while striking out five.
The Huskers built a 3-0 lead in the fourth after Robby Bollin’s leadoff single was followed by RBI hits from Joshua Overbeek and Case Sanderson. Jalen Worthley took over in the sixth and allowed one earned run across two innings. Pryce Bender bridged the eighth before Caleb Clark came on in the ninth. After recording one out and giving up back-to-back singles to bring the tying run to the plate, Nebraska turned to Luke Broderick, who ended the game with consecutive strikeouts to secure the series.
Nebraska will host Kansas on Tuesday night at Haymarket Park before traveling to the East Coast for a critical Big Ten series at Maryland.
