Fred Hoiberg, Keisei Tominaga & Josiah Allick Speak To The Media After Loss To Texas A&m In Memphis

Six players left Nebraska for the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason. The Huskers finally made their first roster addition on Monday.

North Dakota State big man Andrew Morgan confirmed to HuskerOnline on that he had committed to head coach Fred Hoiberg and NU. The 6-foot-10, 245-pound junior chose Nebraska over Minnesota.

Morgan’s commitment comes a few days after taking an impromptu visit to Lincoln on Wednesday, just before the start of the NCAA recruiting dead period. The Waseca, Minnesota, native also hosted Hoiberg and Co. for an in-home visit last Monday night.

Morgan has one season of eligibility remaining.

Things moved quickly with Morgan, Nebraska

Morgan was blown away during his trip to campus, calling it a “one-of-a-kind place” that “you can only describe once you get here.” After taking a few days to weigh his options, he said becoming a Husker eventually felt like a no-brainer.

Morgan averaged 12.9 points on 55.6% shooting, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game this season. That includes hitting 70.3% at the free-throw line on a team-high 148 attempts. He started 59 of his 82 games with the Bison, including 29 this year.

Morgan ranks third in NDSU history for career field goal percentage, at 58.1% over three seasons in Fargo.

Morgan attracted plenty of high-major interest after entering the portal this spring and took a visit Minnesota. But Hoiberg’s in-home meeting last Monday night made quite the impression, which led to his trip to Lincoln.

He said Hoiberg showed him several clips of Nebraska forward Rienk Mast from this season. The former Bradley transfer thrived in his first season as a Husker, and NU sees similar success for Morgan in its system.

Nebraska now has six available scholarships for the 2024-25 season.
