One of the biggest remaining needs for Nebraska this offseason, and Fred Hoiberg and Co. filled that void with a very familiar name.

Iowa transfer Ahron Ulis, fresh off an official visit to Lincoln, announced his commitment to the Huskers on Monday afternoon.

The junior started 27 of 32 games for the Hawkeyes last season, averaging 6.1 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 rebounds while playing 22.5 minutes per game. He also made 22 3-pointers at a 32-percent clip, and his 67 assists ranked third on the team.

Ulis will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

A native of Chicago, Ulis is the younger brother of former Kentucky standout and NBA guard Tyler Ulis. Tyler was a graduate assistant at Kentucky last season.

Ahron was a former three-star recruit out of Marian Catholic High School. He chose Iowa over other offers from DePaul, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Siena, and more.

After entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on March 22, Ulis reportedly received interest from Kentucky, North Carolina State, and Grand Canyon.

Nebraska now has two available scholarships for the 2023-24 season.

Along with departing seniors Derrick WalkerSam Griesel, and Emmanuel Bandoumel, NU lost redshirt freshmen Denim DawsonQuaran McPherson, and Oleg Kojenets to the portal.

The Huskers also added commitments from Bradley transfer Rienk Mast and Charlotte guard Brice Williams. 2023 IMG Academy (Florida) wing Eli Rice also signed in November.
