Nebraska adds talented four-star WR Tay Ellis to 2027 recruiting class

Four-star wide receiver Tay Ellis from Fort Worth (Texas) Crowley has committed to Nebraska. Ellis took an unofficial visit to Nebraska last weekend for the game against USC. The talented playmaker left Lincoln impressed with the game-day atmosphere, the offense, and the love he felt during his visit.
“Nebraska is the right place for me because I can come in and play now,” Tay Ellis said. “And it’s the people at Nebraska. I loved the visit this past weekend.”
Ellis talked about the Nebraska offense after the game on Saturday night. He liked how Nebraska uses their receivers and sees a valuable role for himself with the Huskers.
“I was locked in on the receivers and how they were being used in the offense,” Ellis said. “And I like how Nebraska’s offense is balanced they get their playmakers the ball in space and let them work.
“I could definitely see myself fitting into that system and making big plays here. Coach Shorts, Keith Williams, and Coach Rhule have been telling me I could be a key piece in the offense, and watching the game made me really believe it.”

Tay Ellis connects with several other recruits in Nebraska last weekend
Nebraska had a large group of recruits this weekend, and Ellis was able to spend time with several of them. He believed that all the recruits in Lincoln this past weekend shared the same mindset.
“I hung out with Ahmad Hudson, Trae Taylor, Jailen Hill, and Aaryn Washington, and we had a great time just vibing and getting to know each other better,” Ellis said. “You can tell everyone is on the same mission and that they’re building something special with guys who want to win.”
Ellis is the fifth commitment in the class and the second wide receiver. He joins Jabari Watkins from Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas County Central as the other wide receiver in the class.
