Nebraska shut out by Kansas in midweek loss at Haymarket Park

Nebraska baseball (19-22) fell to Kansas 4-0 on Tuesday night at Haymarket Park. On a picturesque evening in front of a strong home crowd, the Huskers couldn’t find their offensive rhythm and were shut out despite recording six hits.
Kansas struck in the second inning with a pair of runs after a leadoff walk and two one-out base hits. Nebraska starter Tucker Timmerman went 2.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits. The bullpen provided a solid outing, as Gavin Blachowicz and Pryce Bender each tossed two scoreless innings. Drew Christo and Casey Daiss were responsible for the third and fourth Jayhawk runs.

Offense stalls in key moments
Nebraska’s offense struggled to capitalize on opportunities. The Huskers went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and were held scoreless for just the third time this season. Max Buettenback led the team with two hits, but the Huskers failed to string together timely contact.

Their best chance came in the second inning with runners on the corners and one out. After Buettenback stole second, Kansas executed a double play — throwing out both him at second and Cayden Brumbaugh at home — to escape the jam. Nebraska head coach Will Bolt said postgame that his team charted 12 hard-hit balls, but simply couldn’t catch a break.
Nebraska will look to bounce back this weekend with a Big Ten road series at Maryland. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
