Nebraska snaps losing streak with 9-6 win over Pepperdine

Nebraska baseball (8-11) ended its three-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 9-6 victory over Pepperdine (4-15) at Eddy D. Field Stadium.
The Huskers turned to redshirt freshman Carson Jasa, who delivered a strong performance to earn the win. Jasa pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs on just two hits. Nebraska led 5-2 entering the sixth before breaking the game open with a four-run inning.
Huskers capitalize on big sixth inning
Cael Frost ignited the rally with a one-out walk, becoming the first of six consecutive Nebraska hitters to reach base. Will Jeske, Robby Bolin and Devin Nunez each contributed RBI singles as the Huskers extended their lead.
However, Pepperdine quickly responded with three runs in the seventh, cutting Nebraska’s lead to 9-5. Pitching coach Rob Childress then turned to Casey Daiss, who provided stability out of the bullpen. Daiss threw 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits before closer Luke Broderick came in to shut the door with a clean ninth.
Offense find rhythm
After struggling at the plate in recent games, Nebraska’s offense showed signs of life. The Huskers recorded 12 hits, including 11 singles. Eight of nine starters tallied at least one hit, with Nunez, Jeske, Bolin and Riley Silva all collecting multiple hits.

This marked one of Nebraska’s most complete offensive performances in weeks, a positive sign as the team looks to build momentum heading into the remainder of the series and upcoming weekend games.
Looking ahead
The Huskers aim to complete a midweek sweep of Pepperdine on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
Nebraska has not yet announced a starting pitcher, but with Jasa’s strong outing, head coach Will Bolt and pitching coach Rob Childress may consider adjusting their weekend rotation. Jasa’s performance could position him for a bigger role as the team searches for stability on the mound.
