Nebraska stuns Kansas State with walk-off double in wild 7-6 win

Nebraska (22-23, 9-12 Big Ten) pulled off a dramatic 7-6 walk-off win over Kansas State (26-19, 12-9 Big 12) on Tuesday night at Haymarket Park, scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap off a back-and-forth thriller.
Trailing 6-4 entering the final frame, the Huskers rallied behind Dylan Carey’s third hit of the night to start the inning. After a strikeout by pinch-hitter Cael Frost, Robby Bollin singled and Cayden Brumbaugh was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Max Buettenback struck out, setting the stage for Gabe Swansen.

Swansen roped a bases-clearing double down the left-field line, easily scoring Carey and Bollin. Brumbaugh was waved home and narrowly beat the throw, which sailed over the catcher’s head, sending Swansen’s teammates pouring onto the field in celebration.
Huskers overcome ejection, seventh-inning swing to seal wild finish
The Huskers briefly led 4-2 after a three-run sixth inning. Buettenback started the frame with a single before Case Sanderson delivered a two-RBI base hit. Hogan Helligso added an RBI single to cap the rally.

But Kansas State answered in the seventh. After three consecutive hits, Sam Flores ripped a two-RBI single to reclaim the lead for the Wildcats. Nebraska head coach Will Bolt was ejected that inning after arguing balls and strikes during a night marked by questionable calls.
Despite trailing late, Nebraska dominated statistically. The Huskers out-hit the Wildcats 9-6, went 5-for-13 with runners in scoring position, and struck out just six times compared to 14 for K-State. The Wildcats finished 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position and were 0-for-9 with two outs.
Nebraska will look to carry the momentum into a pivotal weekend home series against Minnesota. With only three Big Ten series remaining, a series win would put the Huskers in strong position to qualify for the conference tournament.
