Nebraska volleyball and head coach Dani Busboom Kelly landed the top Class of 2027 player in middle blocker Kendall Omoruyi. The 6-foot-4 middle is ranked No. 1 in her class by PrepDig.com and No. 4 by PrepVolleyball.com.

Omoruyi joins Norris (Neb.) High School setter Malorie Boesiger in the Huskers’ Class of 2027. College coaches started contacting prospects on June 15. Two soon-to-be juniors have already publically pledged their commit to Nebraska.

“I am incredibly excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to play at the University of Nebraska!” Omoruyi said on Instagram on June 16. “First and foremost, I want to thank God for everything he has done for me and for guiding me on the right path. I would like to thank my Mom for all of her support and sacrifices that she has made for me to be in this position.

“To my family that have pushed me in so many ways and sparked that internal drive. I would also like to thank my club Arizona Storm and my coach, Terri (Spann), for the past 4 years! You have helped me so much on my journey, and I couldn’t be more thankful. To my Storm Sisters, I love you all so much, and I couldn’t imagine having this opportunity without you. And with that being said, GO BIG RED!”

As a sophomore at Casteel High School in Queen Creek, Ariz., she hit .342. Omoruyi recorded 2.7 kills per set and 0.8 blocks per set. She posted 281 kills and 82 blocks. She spent her freshman season at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Ariz. The middle hit .309 and averaged 2.3 kills per set and 1.1 blocks per set as a freshman.

Omoruyi plays club for Arizona Storm, one of the top clubs in the country. Nebraska freshmen outside hitter Teraya Sigler and middle blocker Kenna Cogill played for the Arizona Storm. Former Husker middle blocker Lauren Stivrins also played for the Storm.

Recently, the 16-year-old will compete for a spot on the U.S. U19 girls team to play in the 2025 FIVB U21 World Championship. 2026 Husker commits Keoni Williams and Jayden Robinson were also selected.

Nebraska’s Class of 2027 so far

Omoruyi and Boesiger make up the Huskers’ Class of 2027 commits so far. However, a tweet by Busboom Kelly hints that four prospects have verbally committed to the Huskers but have not publicly announced their commitments.

Boesiger is a 5-foot-10 setter from Firth, Neb. Her older sister, Maisie Boesiger, is a senior defensive specialist at Nebraska. Malorie will follow in the footsteps of her sister as a Husker. Boesiger is the No. 14 overall prospect by PrepVolleyball.com and the No. 35 prospect by PrepDig.
