Nebraska volleyball takes down Oregon for 13th straight sweep

After taking down No. 11 Wisconsin on Halloween, top-ranked Nebraska volleyball (22-0, 12-0) continued its undefeated season by sweeping Oregon (13-8, 4-7) (25-21, 25-20, 25-12). This match marks the Huskers’ 13th straight sweep as they have not dropped a set since their five-set thriller against Creighton on Sept. 16.
The Ducks gave Nebraska a challenge in the first two sets with relentless defense, but the Huskers were not fazed. The Scarlet and Cream took advantage of Oregon’s 13 service errors.
Nebraska’s offense shone as Dani Busboom Kelly‘s team posted a .405 hitting percentage in the match. The Huskers only recorded seven hitting errors.
Taylor Landfair led the team with 10 kills while recording a .400 hitting percentage. Harper Murray added nine kills, nine digs and hit .391.
Oregon’s offense had a valiant effort against one of the best defenses in the country. The Ducks hit .162 and were led by Alanah Clemente, who finished with nine kills.
Set 1: Huskers overcome deficit
Oregon gave Nebraska a challenge in the first set. The Ducks looked evenly matched against the top-ranked team in the country, but the Huskers showed why they actually are, taking the set 25-21.
Nebraska opened up the match with some electrifying plays, but Oregon hung around for quite a bit. The Ducks brought their best to the Bob Devaney Center.
Oregon was in the driver’s seat at the first media timeout, as it led 15-14. The Ducks’ combination of scrappy defense and tough serving made life difficult for Nebraska.
Although they were down, the Huskers continued to play their game. Nebraska’s unmatched athleticism eventually wore down Oregon, and the Scarlet and Cream took over the set.
The Huskers hit .290 as a team in the set as Murray posted four kills on nine swings.
Set 2: Nebraska’s offense erupts
Just like the first set, the Ducks challenged Nebraska early. Oregon continued to play scrappy defense and dig the Huskers’ attacks. However, Busboom Kelly’s team overcame it with a ferocious offensive attack, winning the set 25-20.

The Huskers’ juggernaut offense was integral to winning the second set. Nebraska recorded a .450 clip in the second set. Landfair added four kills in the set after having just one in the first.
The Green and Yellow did hit a respectable .226 in the set, but it wasn’t enough to match the Huskers.
The Ducks’ poor serving also caught up to them in the second set. After posting four service errors in the first set, Oregon added six more in the second, including Nebraska’s set point.
Set 3: Huskers handle business
After two competitive sets, the Huskers didn’t allow Oregon to find a rhythm in the third. Nebraska took an early lead and never gave it up en route to a 25-12 set win.
The Huskers’ offense put together another unreal output. Nebraska recorded a .500 hitting percentage in the set and never gave the Ducks room to catch their breath.
Oregon struggled to find answers as the Huskers continued to pile it on en route to a dominant third-set victory. The Ducks’ offense also had its worst set, posting a .037 clip. Nebraska finished the set on a 7-1 run.
The Huskers will be back in action at Devaney on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7:00 p.m. CT against Illinois. It will be broadcast on FS1.
