Sophomore receiver Hardley Gilmore IV dismissed from Nebraska football team

Sophomore wide receiver Hardley Gilmore IV is no longer a member of the Nebraska football team.
Head coach Matt Rhule said Gilmore was dismissed from the team but did not provide any further details. The Kentucky transfer joined Nebraska in January, reconnecting with his former wide receivers coach, Daikiel Shorts. His time in Lincoln lasted only a few months.

As a freshman at Kentucky in 2024, Gilmore missed the first five games due to injury but appeared in the final seven, recording six catches for 153 yards and a touchdown. He was expected to be part of Nebraska’s wide receiver rotation in 2025.
Gilmore was one of four highly touted receivers who joined the team in January, along with fellow transfers Dane Key (Kentucky) and Nyziah Hunter (Cal) and 2025 signee Cortez Mills.
The loss of Gilmore should not have too much impact on the 2025 season, as the Big Red not only have Key, Hunter and Mills, but also sophomore Jacory Barney, who is coming off a freshman record-tying 55 receptions in 2024.
