CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina wide receiver Paul Billups II is no longer with the team, sources confirmed to Inside Carolina. Billups is the third player to leave Bill Belichick’s Tar Heels this season, with wide receiver Aziah Johnson and offensive lineman Trevyon Green being the others.

Billups, who had been with the team since 2023, didn’t log any offensive snaps in UNC’s first four games this season. Newcomers like Nathan Leacock and Shanard Clower have played in the rotation over him, with Jordan Shipp, Chris Culliver and Javarius Green seeing the most snaps at wide receiver.

Billups played in 12 games last year and recorded four catches for 27 yards. The season before, he played in four games and redshirted. He caught a pass in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against West Virginia.

The departure of Billups takes another wide receiver off the roster, with Johnson leaving before last week’s game against UCF. North Carolina ranks last in the ACC with 150 passing yards per game, a number that places the Tar Heels 123rd nationally among 136 FBS teams. UNC has yet to clear 200 passing yards in a game this season.

North Carolina has already removed Johnson and Green from the active roster.

UNC is 2-2 in Belichick’s first season as the head coach. North Carolina’s next game will be a noon matchup on Oct. 4 against Clemson at Kenan Stadium.
