It’s never too early to talk about instant impact contributors now that Notre Dame’s 2024 class is officially complete. The Fighting Irish signed 23 recruits Wednesday, including at least one prospect that should make a difference as soon as next season.

On3 recruiting director Charles Power named Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa as one of 13 signees primed to make an instant impact. On3 scouting and rankings assistant Cody Bellaire also contributed to the list.

“An experienced stalwart who played on a top high school defense against elite competition, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is one of the most developed and polished linebackers in the 2024 cycle,” Power said. “Viliamu-Asa is a pure inside linebacker who played at a high level at Los Angeles-area powerhouse St. John Bosco. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder is a highly instinctive defender who quickly triggers and seeks out contact as a run defender.

“It’s not always easy for linebackers to get on the field as true freshmen, but Viliamu-Asa’s level of polish and defined skill set could set him up for early playing time. Given the Irish will have to replace linebackers Marist Liufau and JD Bertrand next season, Viliamu-Asa could get on the field sooner rather than later.”

Viliamu-Asa, a four-star recruit ranked among the top 65 players, registered 114 tackles (56 solo) as a senior for Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco. He also added 13 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 3 pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Viliamu-Asa is the No. 63 overall player, No. 6 linebacker nationally and No. 5 prospect in California, per the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
