Reminds Us Of

Will Black's frame, fluid movement skills and controlled coordination working at left tackle reminds us of Joe Alt. Black is further along as a true offensive lineman than Alt at the same stage. Despite being newer to football, Black has primarily played as an offensive tackle while Alt played as a tight end and defensive end later in his high school career.

Personal Life
Will Black, who is a native of London, Ontario, is the complete package, according to Choate Rosemary Hall coach L.J. Spinnato. "He's very coachable," Spinnato told Irish Illustrated. "He’s a lot of fun to work with, a great kid, a humble kid. He’s always working on his craft. So, we’re fortunate to get him here at Choate. I mean, he’s a perfect Choate kid. We’re the No. 3 boarding school in the world. And he works hard, he does well in the classroom, and he’s a great kid in our community." Even with that drive, Spinnato says he's seen Black grow as a player. "That kid has worked at it," his coach said. "It’s not like he was super-duper raw in terms of general technique. This is a kid who worked with his local…university’s football players for the last year and a half. So, he would go and work out with them on their field all the time during their off-season, getting better. He learned a lot from some really good Canadian football players who were already in university. The biggest thing, I would say, inline competition, opening up and having that confidence, it took a little bit of time, but it didn’t take that long. I’ll be honest. He picks it up really quickly. He loves the game and has fun with it."
