The first of two chances to watch Notre Dame signees in a high school all-star game was Tuesday evening. Three members of the Irish’s 2023 recruiting class were in the Under Armour All-America Game, held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla.

St. Louis Christian Brothers running back and Irish signee Jeremiyah Love was on Team Phantom, which beat Team Speed 14-7. The latter had two Notre Dame-bound players: Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point four-star wide receiver Braylon James and Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab four-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry.

James had 3 catches for 20 yards, with his longest going for 10 yards. Ausberry made 1 tackle. Love totaled 15 yards on 3 carries.

Love (No. 67 overall), James (No. 121) and Ausberry (No. 153) are ranked in the top 160 of the On3 Consensus. Love is the second-highest ranked recruit in the Irish’s class, behind Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman four-star offensive tackle Charles Jagusah (No. 42). James is the highest-rated of the class’ four receivers.

Five Irish signees will be in the Army All-America Bowl, played Jan. 7 in San Antonio.

Quote of the Day

“His skill set is as an all-purpose back; he can hit home runs for you in the open field. He didn’t have chances to flash his top end speed that we know about, but we didn’t need proof of that.”
