Needs, needs, needs. Everyone has them. Not everyone fulfills them. Wednesday, Notre Dame did.

National Signing Day was good to the Fighting Irish. The program signed 23 high school prospects and at least one in every major offensive and defensive position group. Some of the signees were among the very best in the class of 2024.

12:29 PM — Notre Dame 2024 National Signing Day: By the Numbers

5 — Top-100 rated recruits signed in this 2024 class on National Signing Day, which ties for the most in the last 10 recruiting cycles for Notre Dame, according to the On3.com Industry Ranking.

Five-star wide receiver Cam Williams (No. 29 overall) headlines the list, followed by four-star players offensive tackle Guerby Lambert (No. 37); quarterback CJ Carr (No. 60); linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (No. 63); and defensive edge Bryce Young (No. 84) as the four others at the head of the 2024 class.

The only other Notre Dame recruiting class to feature five top-100 players the last decade came in 2021 when offensive tackle Blake Fisher (No. 55); offensive guard Rocco Spindler (No. 65); wide receiver Lorenzo Styles, Jr. (No. 70); quarterback Tyler Buchner (No. 94); and wide receiver Prince Kollie (100) came on board.

12:10 PM — Notre Dame announced that ex-South Carolina transfer Mitch Jeter is a part of the program

All six of the Irish’s transfer portal commits have been announced by the university as new Notre Dame players.

11:20 AM — Marcus Freeman posts outstanding video about 2024 class on National Signing Day

A bit corny? Maybe. But is it totally awesome? Yes.

10:45 AM — Notre Dame currently has the No. 11 class in the country

10:24 AM — Notre Dame announces its 2024 signing class is complete

10:23 AM — Elite linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa signs with the Fighting Irish

Notre Dame’s top linebacker target in the 2024 class committed to the Irish back in the summer, and despite pushes from other programs late in the cycle, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco’s Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa stayed true to his pledge and inked with the Irish on National Signing Day.

Mike’s take: Rivals ranks Viliamu-Asa as a five-star, which is what Notre Dame would rank him if you asked the coaching staff. He’s the total package. Physically, he’s ready to play from Day 1 at 6-2, 235 pounds, and as an early enrollee, Viliamu-Asa will make a case for him to be a contributor as a true freshman. And on tape, he’s a sideline-to-sideline player who can thump the best of them in the hole. Overall, Viliamu-Asa is just an elite talent with a high ceiling and is one of the safest prospects in the class from a low-bust potential standpoint.

10:04 AM — California wide receiver Logan Saldate signs with Notre Dame

One of the biggest risers in the 2024 class is Irish. Notre Dame just announced the signing of four-star wide receiver Logan Saldate from Salinas (Calif.) Palma.

Kyle’s take: Notre Dame director of recruiting Chad Bowden discovered a diamond in the rough when he found Logan Saldate, an Oregon commit. The 5-11, 185-pounder gives the Irish an excellent slot wide receiver in its 2024 class. Saldate is coming off a senior campaign in which he produced 1,242 yards and 15 touchdowns on 68 receptions (18.3 yards per catch). He joins a Notre Dame depth chart loaded with young slot wide receivers in Jaden Greathouse and Jordan Faison. But similarly to Faison last season, Notre Dame might have trouble keeping Saldate from the field.

Clark committed to Notre Dame a couple weeks ago. The staff formally announced his addition.

The staff also announced that Mitchell is a part of the program.

9:26 AM — Notre Dame National Signing Day update

9:14 AM — Arizona safety Kennedy Urlacher signs with Notre Dame

Pro Football Hall of Fame and former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher’s son will play college football in the Midwest. Three-star safety Kennedy Urlacher of Chandler (Ariz.) High is officially a Notre Dame football program member after signing Wednesday.

Kyle’s take: NFL legacy players have served Notre Dame’s current roster well. Three of the team’s top players, offensive tackle Joe Alt, defensive lineman Howard Cross III and cornerback Benjamin Morrison, are all sons of former NFL players. Alt and Cross were All-America in 2023, and Morrison was freshman All-America in 2022. The 6-1, 180-pound Urlacher has the pedigree to follow in their footsteps. He is a hard-hitting safety who was among the best players on one of the best teams in Arizona’s highest football classification. Urlacher had 47 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in 11 games as a senior. Look for him to replicate similar success for the Fighting Irish sooner than later.

8:42 AM — Deland McCullough named Blue & Gold’s assistant coach recruiter of the year

Second-year Notre Dame running backs coach Deland McCullough has been named Blue & Gold’s assistant coach recruiter of the year for his efforts in the 2024 class.

Notre Dame signed one of the best running back tandems in the nation this morning, with Hannibal (Mo.) High’s Aneyas Williams and Lufkin (Texas) High’s Kedren Young inking with the Irish.

8:26 AM — Notre Dame National Signing Day update

8:15 AM — Central time zone signees complete with LB Teddy Rezac, RB Aneyas Williams and CB Leonard Moore

One of the top players from the top high school football programs in Nebraska is officially Irish. Omaha (Neb.) Westside three-star linebacker and two-time state champion Teddy Rezac has signed with Notre Dame.

Kyle’s take: During a spring recruiting visit to see 2025 four-star linebacker Christian Jones, Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden stumbled upon Teddy Rezac. The 6-3½, 185-pounder is just the type of athlete the Irish need at the linebacker position. According to Westside coach Paul Limongi — who previously coached Irish All-America safety Xavier Watts at Omaha (Neb.) Harry A. Burke — Rezac runs a 4.5-second 40-yard dash. He had 62 tackles (47 solo), 4 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 1 sack and a forced fumble as a junior. Rezac followed that campaign up with 70 tackles (46 solo), 5.0 tackles for loss, 8 pass breakups and 4 interceptions as a senior. Although he is about 20-30 pounds away from playing for Notre Dame, the Irish can say they have an intriguing developmental prospect on the depth chart in Rezac. His identical twin brother, Anthony Rezac, will walk on at Notre Dame as a quarterback.

Missouri’s attempts to flip Hannibal (Mo.) High four-star Aneyas Williams’ were unsuccessful. The longtime Fighting Irish football running back commit has signed with Notre Dame.

Kyle’s take: The Irish added one of the top players in Missouri High School football history to its roster. Williams and his 152 touchdowns — which rank No. 2 in the state all-time — are headed to South Bend. The 5-9½, 200-pound  Williams’ parallels to 5-9, 191-pound Kyren Williams are frightening. Similarly to St. Louis St. John Vianney’s Kyren, Aneyas is a true threat in both the run and receiving games. In high school, Aneyas had 477 carries for 4,255 yards (8.9 yards per carry) and 177 catches for 3,249 yards (18.4 yards per catch). That type of production should warrant early playtime at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens has another exciting piece for his position room. Round Rock (Texas) High three-star Leonard Moore has officially inked his Irish letter of intent.

Kyle’s take: Mickens extended an offer to Moore on Jan. 18 and secured his commitment 17 days later. The 6-2, 175-pound Moore was coming off a junior season in which he had the same number of interceptions (3) as receptions allowed. Until the Irish find the next Benjamin Morrison, the projections of Notre Dame’s next star cornerback will continue to arise. Moore has the profile to follow in Morrison’s footsteps as an instant contributor. He has the length and the experience playing high school football in Texas to compete at the next level.

8:05 AM — Notre Dame announces signing of two HUGE prospects — five-star WR Cam Williams and elite RB Kedren Young

One of Notre Dame’s longest verbal commitments in the 2024 class is officially a member of the Fighting Irish. About 18 months after pledging to the program, five-star wide receiver Cam Williams from Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South has signed his national letter of intent.

Kyle’s take: Williams just gave Notre Dame’s depleted wide receiver corps a major boost. The 6-2 ½, 196-pounder is the first On3 Industry five-star to join the team since Michael Floyd in the 2008 recruiting cycle. Williams will add a dimension to the Notre Dame offense that has not existed the past few seasons: a deep threat. Williams averaged 24.6 yards per catch (37 receptions, 909 yards) as a senior. He essentially scored a touchdown on one of every three catches for the Glenbard South Raiders in 2023. Williams is a long-stride runner who clocked a 10.86-second mark in the 100-meter dash. That speed displays itself on the football field and will translate seamlessly to South Bend.

Notre Dame just dipped into Texas and stole one of the state’s top running backs from the Aggies and Longhorns. Lufkin (Texas) High four-star Kedren Young is officially Irish

Kyle’s take: If Notre Dame was looking for an Audric Estimé replacement, it found it in Young. The 5-foot-11, 225-pounder has nearly identical measurables to the 5-11½, 227-pound Estimé, who declared for the 2024 NFL Draft last Thursday. Much like Estimé, look for Young to really make his mark on the program as a sophomore and junior. The Irish running back room is among the strongest in the nation, with Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price, Gi’Bran Payne and Devyn Ford. But when Young does take the field for the Irish, expect him to make a major impact. He is the Lufkin Panthers all-time leading rusher with nearly 4,000 yards.

7:52 AM — Central time zone upcoming; five more players expected to sign with the Irish

7:36 AM — Notre Dame signs all 15 of its eastern time zone recruits; SAF Tae Johnson and OL Styles Prescod ink with the Irish

The Irish went local to secure their top safety recruit since Kyle Hamilton in the 2019 cycle. Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side four-star Tae Johnson officially put pen to paper with the Notre Dame football program.

Kyle’s take: After the Notre Dame coaching staff watched Johnson participate in the program’s 2022 Irish Invasion camp, they offered the 6-1½, 185-pounder as a safety. And they ended up being the only school to do so. While Johnson holds an exciting profile, it might be a season before he utilizes it to make a major defensive impact. Johnson is about 20 pounds away from playing at a college-ready weight and is also coming off shoulder surgery. But once he adds the pounds and recovers, expect one of the most electric, athletic and explosive safeties ever to play their college football in South Bend.

The Irish have gone to Indianapolis and picked up a high-upside offensive lineman. Four-star recruit Styles Prescod from Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern has officially signed with Notre Dame.

Kyle’s take: Prescod was one of former Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand’s favorite 2024 class prospects. Before announcing his retirement, Hiestand offered the 6-5½, 270-pound Prescod last January. Hiestand identified a light-footed, agile offensive lineman who could play offensive tackle or guard. Do not be surprised if Prescod plays tackle at Notre Dame and then goes on to slot inside in the NFL. Prescod has a frame that must be filled out. But once he adds the weight, he has the profile to be an impact contributor for the Irish.

7:28 AM — Irish announce three more signings — OL Peter Jones, CB Karson Hobbs and WR Micah Gilbert

Undoubtedly, Peter Jones has officially signed his national letter of intent. The three-star offensive line recruit from Malvern (Pa.) Prep and Penn State legacy is officially Irish.

Kyle’s take: This is a recruit Notre Dame has had in its 2024 recruiting class for a while. The 6-5, 285-pounder pledged to the Irish on Aug. 7, 2022. And even though coach James Franklin and the Nittany Lions made a push for one of the state’s top offensive linemen, Jones stuck to his guns and inked with the Irish. Notre Dame rarely relies on freshmen to play meaningful offensive line snaps. And with Jones joining a loaded interior depth chart, that should remain true this season. Still, with sophomore offensive lineman Sam Pendleton, Jones gives the Irish an exciting future on the interior of the offensive line. Jones also played right tackle for the Malvern Prep Friars, which certainly could help the future of the Irish depth chart.

Longtime Notre Dame fan Karson Hobbs just fulfilled his dream. The three-star cornerback from Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller has inked his national letter of intent and is officially Irish.

Kyle’s take: Notre Dame cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens went against his initial 2024 class board to flip the 6-1, 180-pound Hobbs from South Carolina. Hobbs verbally committed to the Irish just as his recruitment began to bud after his junior season. Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee were among the programs that expressed interest in Hobbs but never officially offered him because he remained fully committed to the Irish. Mickens, who grew up in Southwest Ohio, has an eye for defensive back talent and Hobbs’ length and speed appeal to the fourth-year Irish corners coach. High school quarterbacks hardly tested Hobbs during his senior season. His side of the field usually remained untouched, which is a credit to his coverage skills. In 15 games, he had 11 pass breakups and 2 interceptions, along with 34 tackles (15 solo) and 0.5 tackles for loss.

Notre Dame’s receiver room has been overhauled this season, and new position coach Mike Brown has added an important piece with Charlotte (N.C.) Christian’s Micah Gilbert inking with the Irish.

Mike’s take: Gilbert is not one of the more talked about players in the class, but he should be. He’s an outstanding receiver and a player who has been a big riser in the rankings after a stellar senior year, where he posted 76 catches for 1,105 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s also a very good safety with his size and instincts. And at receiver, he’s a competitor who understands defenses well, has smooth hands and can contribute all over the field and in a variety of spots on offense. Gilbert doesn’t shy away from contact; he should earn the staff’s trust early with his blocking. While he might not be a burner, Gilbert has good speed, route running and is a reliable weapon.

7:22 AM — Three more signees announced by Notre Dame — OL Anthonie Knapp, TE Jack Larsen and EDGE Loghan Thomas

Roswell (Ga.) High offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp pledged to the Irish in the spring and never looked back. He’s made his commitment official with Notre Dame, signing his letter of intent.

Mike’s take: Knapp was a target of Joe Rudolph, while the current Irish offensive line coach held the same position at Virginia Tech. The 6-4.5, 275-pounder visited Notre Dame for the first time March 24 and committed to the Irish five days later. According to three websites, he’s ranked as a three-star, but On3 is significantly higher on him than the rest of the industry. On3 loves his athleticism as an interior lineman and his budding potential. Notre Dame sources are just as excited about him, if not more.

Notre Dame signed its tight end for the 2024 cycle today, as Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic’s Jack Larsen inked with the Fighting Irish after being committed to the program for a year and a half.

Mike’s take: While Larsen isn’t the tallest tight end at 6-3, he’s an outstanding receiving threat both vertically and in the short game and is more than a willing blocker. Larsen can play as an in-line tight end or H-back and be split out as a receiver as well. He had a very productive senior season, hauling in 47 catches for 782 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Irish identified him early and were fired up to land his commitment, especially after his strong 2022 Irish Invasion camp performance.

Notre Dame found its future vyper end. Four-star EDGE rusher and weakside defensive end candidate Loghan Thomas from Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward has signed with the Fighting Irish.

Kyle’s take: If Notre Dame fans are still bummed about losing 2023 class verbal commit and Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Keon Keeley to Alabama last cycle, the good news is the Irish discovered his replacement in Thomas. The 6-3, 210-pound Thomas does not hold the exact profile as the 6-6, 230-pound Keeley did in high school. However, Thomas has a likewise intriguing upside. After transferring from Katy (Texas) Paetow to St. Ed’s for his senior season, Thomas dominated for one the top high school football programs in America. In 15 games, he had 129 tackles (28 solo), 15.0 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 31 QB hurries, 15 QB hits, 5 pass breakups, 5 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. Thomas has the ideal vyper end profile. Expect him to thrive once he has the college-ready frame to play.

7:17 AM — Elite OT Guerby Lambert and beefy DL Sean Sevillano sign with the Irish

Notre Dame lost a beefy offensive tackle to the NFL Draft this month when Blake Fisher announced his intentions to go pro. The Irish may have just signed his long-term replacement in Guerby Lambert, who comes from West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial.

Mike’s take: This is a monstrous signing for the Fighting Irish. It was a lengthy recruitment that lasted longer than expected, but he committed to Notre Dame over finalists Boston College, Harvard and Ohio State. He won’t enroll until the summer, but if he picks up the offense quickly, he could potentially be a freshman starter at tackle, like we saw Fisher do back in 2021 to open the season. Lambert is that talented, and he already looks college-ready physically. Simply put, Lambert is the prototypical offensive tackle recruit and very well could end up a five-star prospect by the end of the cycle.

Canadian-born nose tackle Sean Sevillano also signed with the Fighting Irish on National Signing Day. Defensive line coach Al Washington led the charge for ND to land the 6-1.5, 325-pounder.

Mike’s take: It can’t be a coincidence that on the same day ex-Notre Dame commit Owen Wafle announced that he was backing off his Irish pledge ND coaches gave Sevillano the green light to commit. When Notre Dame landed Sevillano’s pledge in early June, it was still in hot pursuit of five-star interior defensive lineman Justin Scott, who was far from a guarantee, so the staff wanted to make sure it landed a nose tackle in the 2024 class, Sevillano was their man. He was highly productive as a senior, posting 101 tackles, 65.0 tackles for loss, 14.0 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 1 blocked field goal.

7:15 AM — Indiana native Bodie Kahoun signs with Notre Dame

Three-star linebacker Bodie Kahoun has officially signed his letter of intent to a much less surprising extent than when he verbally committed to the Irish on the morning of May 15. The Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry High senior is a member of the Fighting Irish.

Kyle’s take: The Notre Dame football program sure loves itself football players that play lacrosse. After Kahoun’s junior season, The Irish were one of 16 Power Five football programs to offer the 6-3, 215-pounder. Kahoun is a former Ohio State lacrosse commit. He also has an opportunity to play lacrosse for the Fighting Irish, but he is not expected to pursue that opportunity initially. Freshman wide receiver Jordan Faison is also on the varsity lacrosse team. Meanwhile, Kahoun did not think about football seriously until his junior season. He then put up one of the most impressive senior campaigns of any Irish 2024 class recruit. Kahoun had 200 tackles (126 solo), 27.0 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks. He had 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 1 blocked punt in the turnover department. Kahoun’s short-area quickness and aggressiveness translate from lacrosse to the football field. He is a candidate to be an early special teams contributor.

7:09 AM — Ohio safety Taebron Bennie-Powell inks with the Irish

The Notre Dame football program has signed a West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West safety for the second straight recruiting cycle. Three-star Taebron Bennie-Powell has followed in Ben Minich’s footsteps by sending in his national letter of intent with the Fighting Irish.

Kyle’s take: While safety recruiting might drive the average Notre Dame fan nuts, the Irish know how to identify high-upside safety prospects with their backs against the wall. After the program missed on top prospects Paul Mencke Jr. and Oliver Miles of Texas in June, they returned to Lakota West for the second straight season. This time, the Irish tapped Bennie-Powell to fill out the safety depth chart. The 6-1, 185-pounder is a stud athlete with a sub-4.6-second 40-yard dash. However, last year was his first season playing safety after being behind Minich and Ohio State 2023 class signee Malik Hartford. It might take a season or two for Bennie-Powell to become a key defensive contributor. But once he does, expect him to be a playmaker. Bennie-Powell had 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 1 blocked field goal and 1 punt block returned for a touchdown as a senior. He also housed a pick.

7:08 AM — Elite pass rusher Bryce Young signs with Notre Dame

The son of Notre Dame legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Bryant Young has signed with the Fighting Irish. Learn more about the highly skilled Bryce Young out of Charlotte (N.C.) Christian.

Mike’s take: Young’s first scholarship offer came from Notre Dame in June 2022 and was an outstanding evaluation by the staff. I doubt they could’ve imagined the immense talent that Young would develop by the end of his high school career, and he still has plenty of room to grow at Notre Dame. Young looks like a create-a-player in a video game. He has all the tools to grow. He’s still raw as an edge rusher, but with his frame, athleticism, and bloodline, Young has a great shot at reaching his full potential in a Notre Dame uniform. This kid can do it all.

7:04 AM — EDGE Cole Mullins makes it official with the Irish

Notre Dame has a high-ceiling edge rusher signed in the 2024 class with Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek’s Cole Mullins making his pledge official with the Fighting Irish.

Mike’s take: Mullins is one of the lower-ranked players in Notre Dame’s recruiting class, and it’s understandable, but some important context needs to be known. During Mullins’ junior season, he played mostly as an inside linebacker, and he was expected to make the move to defensive end as a senior, but he suffered a fractured fibula and couldn’t play a game snap as a senior. But Notre Dame sources believed he would have a monster season and get a rankings bump. The Irish staff is excited about Mullins, who is projected to play vyper at Notre Dame.

7:00 AM — CJ Carr the first player to sign with Notre Dame

After being committed to Notre Dame for a year and a half, Saline (Mich.) High’s CJ Carr is now official with the Fighting Irish, signing his letter of intent this morning.

Mike’s take: A few days ago, Carr started his Irish football career through an NCAA rule allowing some high school players to practice with a college even before signing. While he’s unlikely to play much as a true freshman in 2024, Carr already comes to Notre Dame with plenty of polish in his game. He’s excellent on the board, has an advanced knowledge of the game at this stage and is very accurate. The grandson of Lloyd Carr comes to South Bend with extremely high expectations, and Carr has the tools and mental makeup to meet lofty goals. This is a huge pickup for the Fighting Irish.
