Buckeyes defensive signees stats from storied high school careers

COLUMBUS — Ohio State signed nine defensive prospects on Wednesday to put a bow on an impressive top-five recruiting class.

Lettermen Row has gathered the top stats from each of their storied high school careers and put them in one organized place. Let’s see those stats.

Ohio State defensive line signees

Eddrick Houston: The five-star EDGE played in 12 games as a senior this fall. He totaled 45 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and five sacks. As a junior, he finished with 64 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and 15 quarterback pressures. He earned five-star status because of those efforts.

Eric Mensah: The three-star edge was the Virginia Commonwealth District Defensive Player of the Year and first-team defensive line for his effort in his senior season.

Buckeyes linebacker signees

Payton Pierce: In 14 games as a senior in high school, Payton Pierce finished with 181 tackles, 40 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He also had four forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. He also had 131 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, six sacks and five forced fumbles as a junior in high school.

Garrett Stover: The Central Ohio native had 89 tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions this fall while earning first-team All-Ohio recognition. He was also first-team All-Ohio as a junior.

Buckeyes safety signees

Jaylen McClain: The four-star New Jersey native had 126 tackles, three fumble recoveries, one blocked punt and one blocked field goal as a senior. He was a first-team all-conference and all-state selection in 2023 after having 83 tackles and an interception during his junior campaign.

Leroy Roker: The three-star safety was a fast-riser during his senior season — when he had 54 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss and seven interceptions this year. He was also an impressive basketball player.

Cornerback signees

Aaron Scott Jr.: The versatile, speedy five-star athlete played quarterback and cornerback at Springfield High School this season, a year in which he led Springfield to a state runner-up honor. During his junior season, the five-star prospect had 23 tackles, five interceptions and seven pass breakups for the Wildcats.

Bryce West: Along with winning state titles in track due to his blazing speed, Bryce West was a superstar at Cleveland Glenville this season. He was a lockdown cornerback as the Tarblooders won a state title.

Miles Lockhart: The Arizona native and Basha High School standout had 39 tackles and two tackles for loss in nine games this year. That was after he had 69 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and four interceptions during his junior season.
