Freshman defensive end Omari Abor sheds black stripe for Buckeyes

COLUMBUS — Omari Abor is already making the most of Ohio State bowl practice.

A former top-100 player in the class of 2022 and talented four-star defensive end, Omari Abor shed his black stripe for the Buckeyes on Wednesday. He joins 16 other Buckeyes to lose a black stripe on his helmet, signifying that he is officially a member of the Ohio State football program.

Abor played just eight snaps for the Buckeyes this fall, according to ProFootball Focus. Although he appeared in just one game, the progress for Abor is evident. The Duncanville, Texas, native was the No. 79 overall player in the class of 2022. He was the No. 12 defensive end and No. 15 player in the state of Texas coming out of high school.

Now he is officially a part of the Ohio State football program, shedding his black stripe and making the most of the month of College Football Playoff practice ahead for the Buckeyes.

Quarterback Devin Brown, defensive lineman Hero Kanu, defensive back Ryan Turner, wide receiver Kojo Antwi, wide receiver Kaleb Brown, defensive end Kenyatta Jackson, cornerback Jyaire Brown, linebacker C.J. Hicks, tailback Dallan Hayden and wide receiver Kyion Grayes were all freshmen who shed their stripe during camp. Freshman safety Sonny Styles, who reclassified from the class of 2023 into the class of 2022, shed his black stripe just before the season began.

Defensive end Caden Curry and safety Kye Stokes lost their black stripes during spring practice.
