COLUMBUS — There is no questioning who the leader at quarterback is for Ohio State.

At this time last spring, C.J. Stroud was battling to become the starter, in a heated competition with Kyle McCord and Jack Miller. But after a year of experience putting up video-game numbers in the Buckeyes offense, Stroud is certainly the top quarterback on the depth chart — and maybe in the entire country.

That doesn’t mean the two quarterbacks behind him — McCord and true freshman Devin Brown — don’t bring plenty of intrigue. Both are working to eventually take over for Stroud. For another season, though, Stroud is leading the room. And there’s no shortage of confidence coming from Ryan Day’s top unit for the Buckeyes.

The same can’t quite be said on the other side of the ball at linebacker, where it appears the depth chart hasn’t fully taken shape, meaning there are plenty of questions and a lot of talented players all vying for playing time.

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by Jeremy Birmingham, Spencer Holbrook and Tim May for a jam-packed discussion about the Buckeyes quarterback room and a linebacker unit that is still figuring out its pecking order. After hearing from the all three scholarship quarterbacks and select Buckeyes linebackers, there was so much to break down.

What were the biggest takeaways from the media session on Wednesday? Who is making the most progress under new linebackers coach Jim Knowles? How much better has C.J. Stroud gotten in Year Two as a starting quarterback? And what be the expectations for Kyle McCord and Devin Brown behind Stroud at the most important position on the field at Ohio State?

That’s the summary of the latest Practice Report presented by Byers Auto, the best place to buy a new or used car in Central Ohio. Check out the video below or on the Lettermen Row Youtube channel.
