Pair of Buckeyes hoops contributors still working back from injuries

Ohio State is about to head to the Bahamas for a pair of games that the Buckeyes are hoping can bring a young roster together.

A pair of the veterans who are expected to contribute won’t be suiting up in those two games, though. Justice Sueing and Seth Towns are both practicing, but they’re working back from injuries that kept them both out all of last season. They won’t be playing in the Bahamas.

“We have everybody practicing right now in some capacity,” Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann said. “We have Justice and Seth who are practicing, but they’re somewhat limited in what they can do. Justice and Seth will not play in the two games in the Bahamas. They won’t be fully cleared, but we do expect them to be fully cleared by September.”

Ohio State hopes both contributors will be healthy for the season, at least. They won’t be for the trip to the Bahamas.

Veteran Buckeyes defensive leaders named to Bednarik Award watch list

Zach Harrison and Ronnie Hickman keep gaining attention as veteran leaders of the Ohio State defense.

A week after Harrison and Hickman earned nods to the Nagurski Trophy preseason watch list, they were also included on another major defensive watch list Monday, getting attention as preseason candidates for the Bednarik Award, given annually to the best defensive player in college football by the Maxwell Football Club.

Chase Young is the only Ohio State player to win the Bednarik Award, taking it home in 2019.

Harrison, a team captain last fall and projected leader this season, is one of the more experienced members on the edges for the Buckeyes.

Hickman continues to have his name on preseason award watch lists, and it isn’t by surprise. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety was a force last season in the back end for the Buckeyes and led the team in tackles.

ICYMI: Four-star quarterback Brock Glenn commits to Ohio State

Ohio State has finally landed a pledge at the most important position in the game: Brock Glenn has committed to the Buckeyes.

The four-star Lausanne Collegiate School (Memphis, Tennessee) quarterback chose Ohio State over Florida State, Auburn, TCU, LSU and others Saturday afternoon. Glenn is the answer at quarterback for the Buckeyes 2023 class after going months without a clear-cut direction from prospects throughout the country.

Brock Glenn is the No. 20 rated quarterback prospect and the No. 9 player in Tennessee according to the On3 Consensus Rankings.

Glenn potentially will pilot an offensive machine with his fellow classmates. Ohio State has four offensive line commits, four-star running back Mark Fletcher, and an impressive quartet of wide receivers in Carnell TateBrandon InnissNoah Rogers and Bryson Rodgers. Glenn also joins tight ends Ty Lockwood and Jelani Thurman for another Buckeyes offensive cycle that boasts plenty of talent and skill level.
