OU basketball lands massive commitment from Kai Rogers

OU basketball head coach Porter Moser heard the whispers. OK, it was more like shouting in the last couple of years.
For as good as Moser has done in the recruiting game? The majority has come at the guard position. But for OU to start making that climb, it needed to get bigger.
The 2025 class is doing just that. And adding another huge piece, literally and figuratively. Top-100 prospect Kai Rogers becomes the third member of OU’s class, committing to the Sooners on Friday afternoon.
Rogers picked OU from a final three of the Sooners, SMU and Iowa State.
Rogers, listed at 6-foot-10 and 230 pounds, is a consensus top-100 prospect. He is No. 63 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 actually has Rogers at his highest ranking, No. 51 overall and No. 6 center in the 2025 class.

OU hosted Rogers in the summer, and it was clear it had made a huge impression. The question was just about whether it would still be able to carry the day months later.
Turns out, it was still enough.
Rogers joins a solid 2025 class with two-sport star Alec Blair (basketball and baseball) and center Andreas Holst. The early signing period is next month. It would be a banner job by Moser to lock up the trio and set the future foundation.
On3 says…
Kai Rogers is a strong and physically impressive post presence. He has good hands and an understanding of how he can best affect the game, and play within himself. While not super bursty, he has good timing around the basket as a rim protector. He is patient on the block and can score with a go-to move over his left shoulder. Rogers has touch on his shot and is developing a catch and shoot jumper. The release is good and the balance and footwork is improving. He is a good area rebounder. He plays tough on traffic. Has recently lost a good bit of weight which has helped him improve his athleticism and conditioning.
