Finals week means a light week for OU basketball. But the Sooners received some help late Wednesday night from a very familiar source.

UNLV, coached by Kevin Kruger, took down No. 8 Creighton in a pretty big upset. What that means? If OU can take care of business against visiting Green Bay on Saturday night, the Sooners will remarkably be a top-10 team in the next AP poll.

Unknown, unranked to No. 25 to No. 19 to No. 11 this week and now who knows for Porter Moser and company? OU (9-0) remains one of the six undefeated teams left in college basketball.

SoonerScoop’s Bob Przybylo and Eddie Radosevich break it all down in the SoonerHoop Report.

SoonerHoop Report, Vol. 3

*Some love for Sam Godwin. Continues to do all the little things necessary for a team to be successful. And he’s starting to make a national imprint with his ability to offensive rebound.

*No. 25 Northwestern lost at home to Chicago State on Wednesday night. The lesson? Sometimes taking care of business is the best thing you can say about a team. It’s great to rise up to the occasion and beat No. 3 Purdue (which N’Western did), but you have to have that mentality every night. OU has not taken a night off this season. The target, though, will only continue to get bigger.

*We’re all getting ready for the Jordan Brand Classic next Wednesday in Charlotte. OU beat Florida at this event last season. This time? It’s North Carolina, which could be a battle of two top-10 teams. Want a look at UNC? The ninth-ranked Tar Heels play No. 14 Kentucky this weekend.

*Point guard Javian McCollum continues to shine. He was denied Big 12 weekly honors Monday, but he had a monster two-game stretch vs. Providence and Arkansas. He’s showing his skills, speed can translate just as much vs. elite competition as it can against lower level.

All that and more in this week’s edition of the SoonerHoop Report from SoonerScoop.
