The Lane Train will continue rolling through Oxford for the foreseeable future.

Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter announced on Saturday that football head coach Lane Kiffin agreed to a new contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the new agreement keeps Kiffin under contract at Ole Miss through 2025.

“We are committed to winning championships at Ole Miss, and Coach Kiffin is the person to lead us to those heights,” Carter said in a statement. “With his winning edge, offensive vision and recruiting prowess, he has quickly cemented our team among the best in the nation, and this is just the start.

“With major facility projects on the horizon, we are investing in this program like never before and look forward to building on the foundation that Coach Kiffin has established.

In his second season, Kiffin led Ole Miss to it’s best regular season in program history.

The Rebels recorded their first 10-win regular season after beating Mississippi State last week for a second-straight Egg Bowl victory. Ole Miss also went 7-0 at home for the first time in program history.

In his first two seasons in Oxford, Kiffin has a 10-7 SEC record and a 15-7 overall record heading into this year’s bowl game.

Ole Miss is No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings and heading for its first New Year’s Six bowl berth since the 2015 season. The Rebels have gone to a bowl game in each of Kiffin’s first two seasons.

“We are extremely appreciative of Chancellor Glenn Boyce, Director of Athletics Keith Carter, and the entire Ole Miss administration for their commitment and support of our football program,” Kiffin said in a statement.

“Sustained success takes a commitment from every, and we are excited to continue the work to build a program that makes the entire Ole Miss community proud. I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for our fans, players, and staff. The future is bright! Hotty Toddy.”

Under Kiffin and offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby, the Ole Miss offense led the SEC in total offense at over 500 yards per game heading into bowl season.

In 19 games under Kiffin, the offense has racked up more than 600 yards. The Rebels only achieved that 16 times previously in program history.

With Alabama defeating Georgia in the SEC Championship game on Saturday, Ole Miss looks destined for another Sugar Bowl berth. Bowl matchups will be officially announced on Sunday.
