The Grove Bowl, as expected, is going to look a lot different this year.

The annual end-of-spring event for Ole Miss football will be formatted similarly to the NFL’s Pro Bowl Games. Kickoff is set for Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m. CT.

Ole Miss will wrap its fourth full week of spring practices on Saturday. The newly-rebranded ‘Grove Bowl Games’ will see players face off in 7-on-7 and other various skills competitions. Admission is free at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Gates open at 2 p.m.

“One thing I like about this team (is) everybody was really welcoming,” Florida transfer EDGE Princely Umanmielen said this week on the ‘Ivey League,’ a podcast powered by RiverLand Roofing and in exclusive association with the Ole Miss Spirit.

The ‘Ivey League’ is hosted by third-year starting Ole Miss defensive lineman Jared Ivey and airs weekly. Umanmielen was one of 17 transfers who signed with Ole Miss in the off-season, enrolled for the spring semester and are going through practices.

“Everybody’s kind of together,” Umanmielen continued. “At Florida, I would say there would be cliques and stuff like that. People would be a little standoffish before you become part of the family. When we’d have transfers, I probably wouldn’t talk to them for like two weeks. Here, everybody was really welcoming.”

The ‘Grove Bowl Games’ will offer free parking available on the west side of the stadium throughout the day.

The SJB Pavilion garage will be open, too, as will the coliseum lot and portions of the track lot. Reserved baseball lots, which are east of the stadium, will be reserved for fans with baseball parking passes.

All competition in the Grove Bowl Games will be offense vs. defense with points applied to the skills tests in addition to the scoring in the 7v7. More details on the event format will be released closer to the date.

The Grove Bowl Games will be streamed live on SEC Network+ (on the ESPN app). Tom Hart and Jordan Rodgers will be on the call.

Other home events include an Ole Miss baseball home series against in-state rival Mississippi State, as well as the Rebel softball team’s three-game series with WKU. Women’s tennis takes on Missouri on Friday and Sunday.
