There is no secret about the Ole Miss football team having a really good offense in 2023 and set to be just as good, if not better, in 2024.

More evidence to this is the fact more players on the offensive side of the ball continue to be named as one of the top 10 returners at their respective position by Pro Football Focus.

Wednesday saw this continue as the PFF series provided its list for tight ends and Caden Preiskorn landed at No. 7. He is the third Ole Miss player to make these lists with Jaxson Dart and Tre Harris landing at No. 6 in the quarterback and wide receiver lists, respectfully.

Prieskorn missed the first three games of the season due to a toe injury and did not make his Ole Miss debut until the Alabama game. Despite that he finished with nearly 450 receiving yards to go with is four touchdown catches and was the fourth best receiver Ole Miss had.

From the Alabama game on, Prieskorn’s 449 receiving yards were the ninth-most among all tight ends in the country. Since 2022, his 1,051 receiving yards and 527 yards after the catch — including his Memphis totals — are each fourth among FBS tight ends.

The best performance by Prieskorn was in the Peach Bowl where he caught 10 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns to earn the games’ offensive Most Valuable Player honor.

Dart called Prieskorn the “dad” of Ole Miss due to his years of experience and the leadership he brings to the locker room.

“I’m definitely an older guy that’s played a lot of college football,” Preiskorn said after the Peach Bowl. “I feel like my teammates trust me, trust what I say and what I do. …I’m just thankful they that believe in me as well.”

With Georgia’s Brock Bowers heading to the NFL it allows for Prieskorn to be one of the top returning tight ends in the Southeastern Conference. But Georgia is still Georgia and have re-loaded with Stanford transfer Benjamin Yurosek who is No. 4 on PFF’s list.

Prieskorn and Yurosek are the only two SEC tight ends to make the list.

Below is PFF’s complete list of top 10 returning tight ends:

  1. Colston Loveland – Michigan
  2. Mitchell Evans – Notre Dame
  3. Brant Kuithe – Utah
  4. Benjamin Yurosek – Georgia
  5. Bryson Nesbit – North Carolina
  6. Oronde Gadsen II – Syracuse
  7. Caden Prieskorn – Ole Miss
  8. Jack Velling – Michigan State
  9. Jalin Conyers – Texas Tech
  10. Luke Lachey – Iowa
