The 2023 high school football season has officially kicked off, and a number of Ole Miss recruiting commitments showed out in their season-opening games.

Next week: vs Shannon (Miss.), 7pm CT

4-star DL Kamarion Franklin

Lake Cormorant (Miss.) opened the year with a defensive battle against Lewisburg. The Gators and Franklin won 14-3, dominating the visiting Patriots from start-to-finish. The four-star prospect fought through some back pain but overcame double and triple teams at times and recorded his first sack of his senior season.

Next week: at DeSoto Central (Miss.), 7pm CT

4-star DL Kamron Beavers

Bay Springs (Miss.) drove down and scored right away against Raleigh (Miss.) to take a 6-0 lead. But after this it was all Lions as the Ole Miss commit and his teammates struggled to keep the opponent out of the end zone.

Next week: vs Taylorsville (Miss.), 7pm CT

4-star DL Jeffery Rush

Pascagoula (Miss.) and Rush dominated Moss Point (Miss.) in a 31-0 win to move to 1-0. The four-star prospect is one of the best pickups in Ole Miss’ 2024 class, per several analysts. National scouts love his motor and think he is a recruit who can play early for Randall Joyner.

Next week: at East Central (Miss.), 7pm CT

4-star S Travaris Banks

Banks and Hillcrest (Ala.) opened up the 2023 season with a big win over Southaven (Miss.), 46-0. The four-star safety took a seat early in this one once the Patriots took control. The game was played at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.

Next week: at Pike Road (Ala.), 7pm CT

4-star QB Trever Jackson

Ole Miss’ newest commit did all he could for Jones (Fla.) but the Tigers were unable to get the win against Cocoa (Fla.) on Friday. Jackson is a part of a two-quarterback system at Jones but he ran for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give his team a chance.

Next week: at Our Lady of Good Counsel (Md.), 7pm CT

3-star ATH Cameron Clark

South Gibson (Tenn.) and Clark opened the year with a 42-22 win over Hamilton (Tenn.) on Friday. The Ole Miss commit is one of the most versatile playmakers in the state of Tennessee. Last year, he finished with 60 total tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 11 quarterback hurries.

Next week: at Hardin County (Tenn.), 7pm CT

3-star IOL John Wayne Oliver

Oliver and CPA (Tenn.) couldn’t get much going offensively against Pearl-Cohn (Tenn.), losing 15-11. But it wasn’t because the Rebel commit wasn’t providing protection or running lanes. He was mauling people all night and made it tough-sledding for the Firebirds to get any pressure on the Lions.

Next week: at Pope Prep (Tenn.), 7pm CT

3-star DL William Echoles

Houston (Miss.) got its 2023 season underway with a big win over Columbus (Miss.), winning 22-16. Echoles is one of the most hyped, underrated prospects around the southeast. Ole Miss coaches believe he can be special. And for good reason. You can see him move like a linebacker below. He is one to keep an eye on this fall.

Next week: vs Shannon (Miss.), 7pm CT

3-star WR SanFrisco Magee

Speaking of underrated, Magee is another Ole Miss commit who the staff is high on. McComb (Miss.) had little trouble with Jim Hill (Miss.) on Friday, winning 48-0. The in-state wideout is a big-bodied recruit who earned his official offer after a stellar Juice Camp 23 performance at camp. Last week, he returned a punt 70-yards for a score.

Next week: at Natchez (Miss.), 7pm CT

3-star EDGE Maurice Davis

Davis and Dougherty (Ga.) got 2023 kicked off with a dominant win over Randolph-Clay (Ga.), 34-0. Joyner evaluated the Ole Miss commit live and immediately made him a priority for the 2024 class. He is someone who could see his stock rise with a strong senior campaign.

Next week: vs Stockbridge (Ga.), 7:30pm CT

3-star TE Dillon Hipp

Hipp and Desert Mountain (Ariz.) cruised to a 47-0 victory over Verrado (Ariz.) Friday. Hipp didn’t have to do much in the game as the opening kickoff was returned and the Wolves ran the football effectively all night. The tight end will be a big part of the offense for Ole Miss this fall and Hipp figures to be a key cog for future schemes in Oxford.

Next week: at Sunrise Mountain (Ariz.), 7pm CT

3-star WR Jeremy Scott

Scott and Callaway (Miss.) made quick work of Provine (Miss.) on Friday with a runaway 32-0 win. Scott wasn’t asked to do a lot at receiver, but he hauled in an interception on defense. The 6-foot-4 wideout is one of the class’ first commitments and figures to give Lane Kiffin and the Rebels a big target on the outside.

Next week: at Murrah (Miss.), 7pm CT

3-star S Andy Jaffe

Jaffe had a rushing touchdown for Clearwater Central Catholic (Fla.) in a big 21-14 win over Berkley Prep (Fla.) Friday evening. When he’s not filling in at quarterback in the red zone, Jaffe has been one of Kiffin’s biggest recruiters via Twitter. The Rebels have landed three four-stars in seven days and are now ranked 21st overall in On3’s team rankings.

Next week: vs Trinity Catholic (Fla.), 7pm CT

3-star S Shamaar Darden

Tupelo (Miss.) manhandled Whitehaven (Tenn.) on Friday, winning 37-0. Darden led the Golden Wave in tackles with four and also snagged an interception. The senior safety also had a pass breakup. Tupelo is one of the most talented groups in Mississippi 7A football.

Next week: vs Southaven (Miss.), 7pm CT
