Nathan Lund landed a preferred walk-on offer from an admitted dream school, Ole Miss, last week.

But the 2022 offensive lineman will still be signing with Missouri later this month.

The 6-foot-9, 325-pound Lund told the Ole Miss Spirit Monday he’ll make his pledge to the Tigers (which he announced February 1) official during a ceremony, of sorts, at his high school, Fort Zumhalt North, in O’Fallon, Mo., February 22.

He said he’ll report to Missouri in August.

“I haven’t officially signed my commitment letter yet,” Lund said. Missouri, like Ole Miss, offered him as a PWO. “That left the door open for other offers.”

Lund said he heard mostly from Missouri, Ole Miss, Akron, Western Illinois, Illinois State and Murray State during the recruitment process.

He visited the Rebels — who finished 10-3 last season, including their 10th all-time appearance in the Sugar Bowl — for a game-day Saturday in the fall. Ole Miss defeated Texas A&M, 29-19, with Lund in attendance.

“I’ll tell you, we’ve been to a few schools, and nothing compares to Ole Miss,” his father, Karl, said, in a previous interview with the Ole Miss Spirit. The elder Lund accompanied Nathan on the trip.

“There’s a deep history and tradition at Ole Miss that anyone would be proud to be a part of. That’s an understatement.”

The pair left Oxford confident an offer from now-third-year head coach Lane Kiffin and staff would coming eventually.

However, the Tigers, who were 6-7 and reached the Armed Forces Bowl last season, made the commitment to Lund first. He’s going to stick to his word.

“The offer from Ole Miss means quite a lot to me,” he said. “That’s a dream school of mine. My word is my bond, though. The coaches at Missouri blessed me with an offer first, and I verbally committed. They have an amazing program and I can’t wait to be coached at the next level by my coaches there.

“Missouri was also one of my dream schools. I’m still beside myself that I get to continue my football career into college. I haven’t been playing for very long, so I feel incredibly blessed to move on to the next level.”
